Re: Lucas Perri
Bearing in mind Robbie Evans comments last week & the reasons why we didn't sell Meslier, was he aware of Perri injury then, apparently he could be unavailable for an extended period.

How do these players get injured in training for goodness sake.

Re: Lucas Perri
Taken a lot of stick.
But he made 2 great saves and we lose that game without him imo.
Also felt he did better with the balls into the box as well.
Good game Lucas.

Re: Lucas Perri
A lot of criticism about his kicking accuracy but several of his clearances against Chelsea were with his weaker foot. He seems comfortable enough to hit it first time with his weaker foot rather than risk being closed down by taking an extra touch or two to get it on his preferred foot. As such not a huge surprise that sometimes the accuracy is a bit wayward - but better that the ball is in the opposition half than the back of our net.

Re: Lucas Perri
Early days, his distribution against Chelsea was poor when he had plenty of time with his clearance. Which was probably an off day, I had plenty of those days and that is an understatement. He was a lot more solid against Liverpool and he has a preference for kicking when the ball is passed directly back to him. Not so assured kicking a static ball, which is not unusual as it requires a stronger ball striking technique. Hell of a throw on him - would like to see more of that, particular when we have the ability to counter.weasel wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 12:22 am A lot of criticism about his kicking accuracy but several of his clearances against Chelsea were with his weaker foot. Not seen the interview but from comments elsewhere DF not exactly protecting Perri.
Anyone see what he said?

Re: Lucas Perri
Feeling Darlow will get a run, didn't like the Perri signing much but we'd missed on a couple so scraping barrels again... Mes is done here, (unfortunately) Darlow is a premier number 3 all day long...
Interesting Farke throws Perri under the bus, did he even do that with Meslier?

Thanks
Not keen on that tbh.
Sort of thing that should be said away from the media.

I'm suprised at DF publicly critising Perri two games in a row but he must be thinking he has cost us 3 points over both games. Wonder if he is regetting dropping Darlow, that I think was a harsh decision.

Re: Lucas Perri
Darlow is our best keeper. I also said that when we signed him and people laughed. We saw how that went when finally Meslier was dropped. I’ve always rated Darlow…

Re: Lucas Perri
And that just sums up our poor recruitment if Darlow is the best we have. However, I would have him over Perri other than the occasional save, he's a total liability and invokes very little confidence. He needs benching.Victor_Notts-17 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 08, 2026 2:56 am Darlow is our best keeper. I also said that when we signed him and people laughed. Pope let in 3... just saying. Howe should get rid of him. Knee jerk reaction.

Re: Lucas Perri
Finding it hard to lay the blame fully at Perri's door, though you would expect him to save it. The team looked out on their feet, the culmination of playing three or four games at high tempo in a short space of times. We didn't defend well enough for the whole game, arguably all of the Newcastle goals were avoidable.

Re: Lucas Perri
Perri has had adequate opportunity to show what he can do. On the evidence so far he's looking very ordinary. Described on match commentary as "eccentric" he looks like an accident waiting to happen in each match. His distribution is poor, does not deal with crosses very well and his positioning at times is poor. There's been the occasional shot stop that has been remarkable but all in all it ain't enough I'm afraid.
Perri is not Premiership quality and whilst Darlow might be slightly better he is not up to scratch. As for Meslier, I think his goose is cookesd as he can't be trusted. We will need better going forward. Hopefully our recruitment team is on the case!
