Doubt Coventry would be looking to derail their promotion push too.

January is generally only a time to snap up players who clubs want to get rid off rather than players doing well for teams doing well.
What if we could work a trade with Coventry. Joel Piroe for Haji Wright. The USA International is a big, strong, mobile forward that might be a good fit for us. Certainly a better fit for us and our style of play. He typically plays on the left or as a Striker. So playing the left side in a top two would be ideal for him and us in my view. I think he could be a terrific strike partner for DCL.

That's because they can't really afford to lose a top goal scorer. Which is why I think a deal that includes Piroe might just work.

Swapping Wright for Piroe is a curious idea.

Piroe last season goal every 162 minutes

Wright every 166 minutes

Piroe assist every 443 minutes

Wright every 1332 minutes

Overall Piroe goal or assist every 118 minutes

Wright every 148.

Piroe is also younger but deemed not good enough apparently

I think Piroe's finishing in the Championship speaks for itself. But in the Premier League he's not big enough, mobile enough, quick enough, or physical enough. And I think Haji Wright, based on me watching him play for USA and Coventry, is all of those things. He's not as pure of a finisher as Piroe. But for us he doesn't need to be. We have DCL for that. And Wright is good enough to compliment that. He can add some goals and take the heat off of DCL.

Wright has 1 assist no goals in his last 10 games for a team on target to be the top goalscoring side in Championship history.

To me it just looks like he had a purple patch?

5 in 5 then 3 in 14 since.

My views on Piroe are well known, I think he's been under used but now he's probably so far off match sharpness it's a catch 22 for him.

But I don't see why a near 28 year old Haji Wright would be a solution myself.

Wright is hardly setting the Championship alight, why would he set the Premier League?

Gnonto is probably the answer for the 10. Two footed, strong, top passer, creative, great football IQ, gets assists and goals.... defensively decent. He's just not 6 foot 6.

Farke will get there eventually..

The ongoing narrative that we should sell Piroe in January is really aggravating me.

It would be lunacy to sell him this season.

Yeah, I'm with you on this one Cjay.
Piroe is a known quantity for us. I don't see where Wright is an improvement - especially considering he is a Championship player - the very complaint being made about Piroe?! I also don't buy this story that Piroe isn't good enough for the PL. He just happens to be behind an England international right now who is on a streak that made Leeds club history today. Piroe still has a role to play in our attack, even if only off the bench. Arguably he couldve come on today instead of Willie.

There is some rumour that Willie could be on the move if the right offer comes. Not sure how I feel about that.

There are a couple of midfielders I would love to see at Leeds - Rodrigo Salazar from Braga and Lovro Majer from Wolfsburg, being two. I doubt their clubs would let either of these two go. But they - to me - are more examples of proven talent who would likely adapt quickly to the PL, given their experience.

It's about his body type and physical ability for me. Piroe can't play the position in the way it needs to be played. So right now it's DCL and Nmecha. We need a 3rd guy that can fill that role. And part of my thinking was that they might be willing to take Piroe in sort of a win/win trade. Which would help given our current financial situation.

We don't know what Piroe can do because he hasn't been played.

We had this with Gnonto, Bamford, before in the Championship where they got naff all minutes, people said it was because they weren't good enough then they got starts and turned out they were.

But Piroe aside I don't see why you'd swap one more proven Championship player for a lesser one based on half a season?

I take the physical side, Wright is a big lump, but the Premier League is full of big lumps.

It would be a risk imo and an expensive one.

Well, the point is probably mute as I don't think a deal has any chance. But just for fun, they have an equal amount of Senior level league goals. Piroe in Holland and the Championship. Wright in Holland, Denmark, Turkey, and the Championship. That number is about 76 goals each if you are counting. I give the edge to Piroe as he has scored more goals in the Championship. But again, he has NONE of the other attributes that we need. We've all seen how he plays. And it's mostly in a sort of inverted striker role. Wright is a bigger, stronger, player that plays up top. And THAT is what we need in my view. So I shall agree to disagree with you Cjay. Cheers!! 8-)
