This sounds like DF is leaving at the end of the season to me 😥
But is he jumping or have they decided they want someone else and he's been pushed

Could be lost in translation but mostly in past tense.
Hope I'm wrong :crossed:

Pre-emptive.

He and the board may not agree on the direction of the club, how it's ran etc.

He may want more ambition or more say.

They may want a different direction, it's a new project as he says.

He was phase 1 which he's done, who knows how the club wants to go phase 2.

So he's getting his end out there.

I don't think it's a I'm leaving it's more an if he leaves he can use this as a defence for his future.

It's a manager covering his bases protecting himself.

I think he was putting his cards on the table. Laying it out there that what happened last time we got promoted should not happen again. The club needs to progress, new players, make sure the board are on board with his thinking and ideas. Make it happen .

I think the fact he has chosen to say all this now and not waited until the season has finished though will understandably make some fans question if some things have already been decided. Taking that presser word for word and considering all the past tense stuff you can't help but think he could likely be on his way. Really hope I'm wrong.

Totally agree. Phase 1 is a good way to put it. Now he wants to see what Phase 2 looks like before he commits.

Both ways

Club as well needs to see if they are aligned.

If they aren't the pair of them then it won't work.

I just read the comments under the press conference and a few people were saying that it sounded he was saying goodbye.

Here we go. The forum adding to silly season.
Farke is leaving.
Ampadu is leaving
We havent signed anyone decent for years.
The world is generally ending.

What is it with Leeds fans that we have to find something to wring our hands about.

Can we please just finish the season with a bit of a smile and spring in our step. FFS.

Who knows what the owners want to do.

As he said it's a new project now.

Whose to say which direction we want to go.

From Farke's pov he's just managed to rebuild his reputation to a degree, I'd imagine he is very keen not to see it sink again so he's basically calling the owners out.
I thought it was a brilliant speech by Daniel Farke, and he used the press conference to state his ambition to the club, players and fans.

It's refreshing to have a manager who wants the best for us.

He's thrown the gauntlet down to the club, and we'll now see if the club is prepared to match Daniel's ambition and statement of intent.

If they don't convince him that they want to progress the club at the pace he desires then that for me was a clear warning that he'll walk away this summer and he will have plenty of suitors.

He's absolutely got the right attitude and ambition and he deserves to be backed. You can clearly see that he won't be hanging around for a survival, roll the dice kind of project.

The club needs to get it's finger out and agree a mission and objectives with DF. If they fail to do this, then that for me means we're back on the slippery slope and DF will leave this summer before his reputation is tarnished by the club's lack of ambition.

Well said Daniel Farke.

Wants the best for himself I'd imagine as well.

Would do him no good professionally if we struggled next season.

Will await to see what happens.

He should be ambitious, I don't want a manager whose prepared to accept the club trying to stagnate and run things back for the second season at this level. We saw what happened when Bielsa wasn't backed. If the club can't match his ambition then I expect he'll move on to pastures new.

Same with the players, if they don't see the club has ambition they won't waste any time jumping ship either, and I wouldn't blame them.

We should be aiming to compete for and win trophies asap.

I wonder how much that "leaked" document player a part from last summer.

Player sales to finance the club.
Aiming to just survive basically for a few seasons.

Then sell.

If you were DF would you want to risk "just surviving" given the lack of margin for error and the fact your reputation would be hit again.

It's also very very heavily focused on how they want to run the club, massively focused on ownership setting the criteria, then the data team and finally the manager.

It's not the manager power Farke likes in terms of recruitment or even style of play.

It's interesting.

I just saw today as Farke protecting himself tbh that's all just in case.

All managers do it when their are questions about their future.

In fairness to the owners he's been extremely well backed financially since he's been here and the owners and data team have been proven right about the profile we sign and style if play.

Well said Daniel Farke.
Been another fantastic season, loved every minute of it.

As long as I get to the game on Sunday, that’ll be another season of not missing a home game (friendly, cup or otherwise) since 2011, and it’s certainly high up in all those seasons in preference of enjoyment.

I’ve made no secret of my admiration for Farke, and I want him to stay, of course I do, but all parties need to be in agreement of where we are heading and that’s all he seemed to be saying for me.

Yeah, I did think it was really clever and very much premeditated.

He's stated his position and he used some very smart examples to make his point, and continually curried favour with our supporters.

I mentioned the other day that when Bielsa kept us up, our second transfer summer was very disappointing: Dan James, Kristoffer Klaesson, Jack Harrison and Junior Firpo. So, he's making the club aware that sitting on your laurels at this level isn't an option, and he won't be a part of that.

I don't think the owners are daft enough to test the water with another leak this summer, as regardless of whether he jumps, or is pushed, there will be much wringing of hands, and tearing of clothes if DF leaves, and I don't think they'll fancy the backlash.

So, he's put them in a position where they have to develop a long term plan with his input and back him as our long term manager.

I think he deserves the credit for what he's achieved and I'm pleased he's had the balls to call them out in public, maybe that's him firing a few early shots after the leak last summer?'

I actually want a manager who is ambitious and wants a say in how we plan our future as he's gonna be the one taking the blame if things go tits up. I would be disappointed if he didn't flex his muscles after 3 relatively successful seasons at the helm.
