MJ not at this level... Lot of potential but a loan move to an easier league needed to develop.

Big problems if he's leading the line in case of injury. Would probably say Ramazani would be the best bet as a back up.

Gnonto..... Dogs again. Big reputation little end product. 35 million looks like a lot of money right now. Never been a fan if I'm honest and certainly not after trying to force a move don't see an improved player from what we bought. Isn't exactly ripping up the league and wouldn't expect he'd be a success in prem. Either a loan or sale for decent money.

Guilivogui.... Waste of a loan cannot replace either rcb or cdm for 90 mins. There are definitely better players available for loan as has been proven by the others around us who have signed them. Highly doubt Burnley is a more attractive destination than Leeds for players so down to recruitment.

Byram past it.... Weird one from farke left back in Schmidt playing right back and right back at left back in Byram. Hasn't suited either in the two games he's done it. Love to know the logic. Pace of Aziz maybe?

Pretty much all the starting 11 needed playing time. 11 was I would have expected. I was only wrong on Gruev (meaning he'll be starting Tuesday) and Wober (obviously not fit enough)

one game playing badly in a cup game does no one any favours ... At least our 21's play as a team.

Strujik's penalty looked fine - just a good save

Schmitt had some really good moments - again making it seem starnge he's not more involved

The numbers say we should have won. So not too disappointed. It was a decent run out for those that need minutes.

Did you not see Struijk blatantly look TWICE at where he was going to aim his shot? I did and more importantly, so did their goalkeeper! Just a really bad choice for a main penalty taker: I've said it for months...

He's not main penalty taker if Piroe is on the pitch. That said, any one of our forward players on the pitch today should be ahead of him.

I am not sure Gruev starts if Pascal is back in the lineup and paired with Rodon as I would expect, if no injuries. More likely Amps and AO. He could go with two DCM, but I am not convinced he will.

It shouldn't do. If anything it proved that some players who have been starting in the league matches have deservedly kept their place.

I always felt as a manager that a friendly match (and the FA Cup is a glorified friendly these days) was almost an opportunity for me to be proved right in that I had been picking the best players in the important matches. Ideally though you want the players that have come in to really shine and basically say to the manager, "You should be picking me."

All in all though we lost to 2 deflected goals and we missed a penalty. Just one of those games where nothing really went for us.

More important is Sunderland dropping points and hopefully Sheff U will do so later as well.
