Alwasy a tricky situation when players know the manager is leaving. If he is b*llocking you do you buck your ideas or just wait till he's gone. I wouldn't be surprised to see him gone before the end of the season. Talk about Mateta leaving too.

THought they were poor against us and in the cup against Macclesfield it really didn't look like they were the prem side.

It depends on what your expectations are I suppose.

Yeah I guess, good way of looking at it, though I would expect the level of player we have to have taken one or more of those opportunities. Think the average for staying up is to take one of 4 chances per game and think we created 6 so not far off.

Agree on the fight today was brilliant to see, but don't think you ever deserve anything in football, Newcastle is a good example where I felt they left everything on the field. Just wish we had that ruthless streak a bit more.... Struijks free header today etc (4 similar chances this season).... Again expectations I guess, is Struijk a van dyke?.... No.... Else as he said in his interview "he would have looked to join a bigger club in the summer if an offer came in"..... It didn't.

Struijk doesn't need to be dropped but he can be a bit of a liability when he has time to think. This has been an issue for ages, but then he does have a great passing range and is left footed .

Doesn't mean however that I won't have an opinion about whether Gnonto and Tanaka merit more game time. Or whether Struijk for such a tall bloke is poor in the air and lacks pace....

Its a fair point about thinking time. What sets the PL players off from the rest is the ability to think quickly and of course to perform the action.



When it comes to defenders scoring goals, for me it comes way down my expectations for the player. Icing on the cake if you like.

First job is at the back and I don't see a better left sided CB at the club currently.

I felt Justin had that today and even when he cleared with his left foot, always made good contact with the ball and wasn’t scared to use his left either.

Wasnt there a comment about Tanaka earlier this eason ? about his lack of self-belief or something along those lines. Maybe thats what is holding him back in this league. As we all have seen he has quality but lets himself down at times. It could be that he is just taking longer to get used to playing at this level, and more importantly, taking longer in realizing that he can do it at this level.
A strong mind at this level in sport can make a very big difference.
