Re: A message from the players
I’ve felt like that before. I have a job where I have to interact with my customer and passers by. It’s very easy to get a reputation as a miserable bugger if you can’t do it with a smile on your face & a bit of banter.DDB220 wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 12:59 pm It is the pressure and the nature of the game these days. Players don’t really have to make a decision off the pitch everything is taken care of. As the first players ignore the fans the players following behind just blissfully follow suit. There is not a lot to smile about right now at the club and this lack of player interaction with fans is a symptom of the malaise. The club had to react to the this as the PR is dreadful - whatever they said would sound hollow to many.
This is not a club on the basis of what we are seeing on and off the pitch that looks up to the fight for me. Someone needs to get a grip of things at the club.
Also when you’re not in the mood actually forcing yourself to do it can often have a positive effect. I mean a beaming smile on that kids face as you chat with him might make you feel good about yourself and improve your mood.
I mean you often hear a famous sports man or woman saying how they were influenced by such and such taking the time to speak to them. Now it’ll be “oh I was influenced to buy the new iPhone when Gnonto walked past me”. Or “I took up rugby after seeing Struijk’s sidestep round that hotel pillar”.
I declare my love for Saint Daniel and I can shoehorn him in to any conversation.

I don't think that matters.Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 1:54 pm The father of the lad in the video has put out pictures of Ayling, Forshaw, Javi and Harrison talking, shaking hands and signing autographs with his son.
Because the image is more than "did they talk to a kid". It's gone viral because it's a metaphor. It symbolises all that's gone wrong at the club, the apparent lack of class, the disconnect between players and fans, the seeming indifference to a family that may earn a fraction of what the players earn, the way the club has really gone off the rails at all levels. Heck, even the inability to control PR, a better run club would have dived on the story immediately.
Instead we have some weird mix of players apologising for not acknowledging the child, but now it seems some did.

Fair play to those players and manager for making the kid's day. Human kindness, it doesn't take much really.Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 3:12 pm Yes, here Swannie……

20 seconds of the players time, a lifetime of memories for the lad.
As you say, it doesn’t take much.

Re: A message from the players
As to the players, they are a disgrace, a little human kindness goes a long way. Looks like Ayling and Harrison did their bit but the rest were appalling.
