Halifax piece hall gets loads of old bands on now, madness, tom jones, kaiser chiefs etc, cracking venue.

Nile Rodgers Chic at Bridlington last week

The gorgeous band The Delines at Pocklington, last summer. I'd travel the breath of the country to see them again, unfortunately they have toured Europe this year & are just about to perform a set of gigs in Australia. Please come back to the UK, you beautiful people.

13 piece band, incredible music and performance.

Overall gig experience, being Manchester on a Saturday night, was crap though. Pilled up Mancs mouthing off constantly, chucking beer everywhere. FK repeatedly told them to f**k off, and that it has been much better playing in Leeds. Thought it was going to kick off.

Tinariwen - Birmingham O2 Institute, 19th July

African dessert blues, love their sound and rhythms, and always go to see them when they're about.

Crappy venue though, with a really boomy, saturated sound that spoilt it somewhat.

Good band, Sara. I own a couple of their albums, I suspect they would be colourful on stage.

Heard somebody else mention that venue favourably. On the look out for smaller venues with decent music... getting tired of the big, lairy places.

Saw King Hannah at Nottingham Rough Trade last year, in front of about eighty people. Gig perfection!

The Piece Hall is open air, a bit like an Italian plaza.

The venue of the Piece hall is the big draw at the moment, oldest existing cloth hall in the world (certainly britain) look it up sara.
The acoustics are excellent.

Haven't been to what you would call a proper gig since we left England in 2010.

Probably last gig I was at was Pink at Newcastle Arena, maybe in 2006 and she was awesome as always

Was at a H&S conference in Toronto in 2017 and Steven Page from The Barenaked Ladies was playing acoustic, with his pal on cello, or whatever it was. He played a few songs and we were very close to the stage so I was singing my guts out when he sang Brian Wilson.

Steven is a great advocate for mental health and that's why he was at the conference, to advocate and talk about his own mental health battles.

Also saw lots of great Bulgarian artists here at various free concerts.

One of my mates plays lead guitar and sings in a punk/ska band and he keeps begging me to go to one of their gigs.

So I guess that will be my next gig.

Did he do One Week? That's always a challenging song to sing. I have learned it but doesn't make it any easier

Best gig of the summer was Zuffalo at the Square and Compass in Worth Matravers, Dorset.

We were camping, and it was a Rainy Sunday, so decided to have a cider day. Wasn't expecting too much of the band, but they were brilliant, free, and played for five hours.
