I thought Meslier had a solid game.

Very few mentions of how solid he has looked this season so far.

He was very pro-active dealing with high balls into the box yesterday in terms of getting a glove on the ball to make a decent clearance.

Yes! Your problem is that you think you are never wrong about anything so you defend yourself to the hilt! You are headstong to the point of over aggression and you really do wind poeple up. I'm only saying what I see. You understand as well as anyone that we are just posting our opinions. If people want to attack us for them, just ignore them and move on. It's not like we are going to meet up with them in a car park and go toe-to-toe is it?

In my view the reason we did this was we were making a pigs ear of trying to hold a high line.

You may have noticed that we were trying to play their runners offside. Without VAR it is a dangerous tactic. This for me is evident on the initial goal we conceded and the remonstrations about offside.
It is easier playing possession based football if you squeeze the opposition and thus effectively pen them in. You can then pass the ball around the periphery looking for an opportunity to play an incisive ball.

Ipswich were constantly countering with the ball over the top into the space behind the fullbacks.

Now some cannot wait to blame Ayling for any transgression. But it was the high line not Ayling that wasn’t working.
Although Byram played his side better - however it still need last ditch tackles.
When Drameh came on he was left stranded at least twice with the ball over the top. Ironically this was our undoing with JM tactics last season on a regular basis.
It tends to get exposed when possession is surrendered suddenly ( such as forwards trying a trick in a tight space or a misplaced pass) whatever the level a high line can be exposed unless you have quality defenders who immediately react and have recovery pace to negate the ball over the top.

I think Farke dispensed with this tactic in the 2nd half, sat deep and looked to play on the counter.

Now this tactical pragmatism, not playing the same way and setting the team up according to the opposition is what certain posters on here would preach on a weekly basis when we lost under Bielsa.
Ironic that Farke changes it and he has suddenly got it all wrong.
The couch coaching badge qualification is a petty instrument at times.

Whilst counter attack approach was not pretty and we did seem all at sea at times we did in fact get the three points.
Ironically the points we missed out on are all that mattered when we played dominantly and lost under Bielsa.

Personally, I thought we played well for the most part and we scored nearly 50% of our shots on target. So our conversion rate was quite clinical.
See what i mean ^

Something fcking decent to get your teeth into on a 'post match debate' fcking grow up Cjay, don't skirt around issues, telling us stuff without telling us why or how you'd fix it is imo shite.

Ok, let me just say this - "PEOPLE WIND ME THE FCK UP !"

Just jestin - Go back to my first post on this match thread, all i did was ask questions, i wanted to know what i'd missed, if i was wrong, i wanted to know what he meant with his blanket statements like "Df got it totally ALL wrong "...but we won yes ? So i just wanted to elaborate, i could see where it went wrong for me, but i just wanted to get where he thought it was going ALL wrong coz he wasn't saying.

It's as simple as that.

I think Mes was v good yesterday myself and close to MOTM, his confidence with the ball at his feet and awareness is coming on brilliant, he positioned himself really well, it's definitely the highlight of his keeping skills and will hopefully bring good money for him, he can pull off some great saves anorl when he's not nervous, and this footy stuff helps him no end, i just wish he'd get himself in the gym ffs, just a little more upper body strength.

He also reads the play and can make himself available to be passed to, and knew yesterday when to get shut, he's gonna get caught out with the odd mistake, but i'd love him to carry on with all this, some hairy moments yesterday when Ipswich players were closing in on him, but i thought he kept his cool pretty good, it's like he can see them from the corner of his eye encroaching.

What the fck is wrong with these people, they don't tell you fck all about how to go about things, all you get is "he's shite"..."he's brilliant"...defensively yesterday Sinisterra was fcking terrible, lazy feckin numpty, Willy was the same until DF got him in and a little better second half, where the fck were they channeling virtually ALL their attacks huh ?

But no, "the 4 up front were outstanding"...were they fck 'outstanding, they might be soon coz there's absolutely loads of room for improvement from each.....there's fcking loads to go at, but the fcking children here don't seem to think so ffs.

I think it's too early to find faul t with the managers overall tactics.
Once he has players available we will see.

But four up means you will be outnumbered in midfield and will be overloaded at times.

But having those 4 in the lineup will be entertaining once they gel.

Away to top of the league, change tactics and win game. The same people not happy with that are those who seem to think if Bielsa (5) changed tactics to a park the bus we would have beaten Man City, Man U, Liverpool etc with a group of players available that weren't as good as the players Farke had yesterday.

Yesterday was feckin brilliant, a great watch coz we came away with 3 points, Ipswich definitely the best we've played so far, we were away from home which makes it sweeter.

He threw in at the deep end the front four (which i thought was brill) and it came out ok coz of their own skills, Piroe goal ? - Clumsy fckin keeper - Or excellent predatory skills to be in the right place following up an attempt on goal ?...Gnonto's speed, awareness and thinking to nip in for his, ....Sinisterras - I'd want him on the end of most sublime passes myself....and best of all Rutters - you only have to see stuff like that to know there's a player there, although the Ipswich defenders were dreadful for letting him dance like that, but i think more credit has to go to him....

4 attacking players, all with the instinct to go forward....which makes it feckin hardwork for the 6 behind, but i love it, and it should only get better...Piroe and Rutters interchangin was quite good anorl, a good work in progress and i bet DF's gotta load of work to go at this week on the training ground and watching the game again
