Hjelde has been poor in the games he's featured this season, a bit of a liability imo!

To be fair to Hjelde he is a CB not a LB and he has received high praise in the past for performances in that role :duno:

No excuses for the next two home games we need to stay in touch. Its still early but we need to take the pressure of ourselves by cutting the points gap. We can afford the odd slip up if we are within touching distance.

We need a win tonight and another win on Saturday, anything other than that will see us slip further behind the front runners and, before you know it, automatic promotion will be an impossibility (if it isn’t that already).

Come on Leeds!

The only hope already really is the mighty pair of Preston and Ipswich hit rough patches and we find some consistency and start putting teams to the sword - you look at the table and we have only played 2 of the 12 teams below us, 3 after tonight.

That's an interesting stat.
I always think the Championship table starts to take shape after Christmas. Cream starts rising to the top.

Missed that, it seems one of Ayling or Coop has to start

I'd have him on the bench. He was poor last weekend, and although everybody was - I think he needs a timeout. He is maybe not match fit enough to be consistent yet.

Shacks must be injured. He’d be a cert for the bench if he’s not starting

Love to see Rodon back and Anthony with his first full start. No offence to Luke, but add Djed at LB and that might be our strongest XI :)

Yes, that was my logic. In theory it has to be Shacks, but I think Ayling has to come in to start as captain. I don't really think Struijk or Ampadu are quite ready for the captain role yet.

Its a bit of a dilemma for DF.

I would definitely have him on the bench to come in when Luke's legs run out after 60.

I am also wondering what's going on with Cresswell. He played well in the early games. Just not in DF's plans, with Spence to come in at some point.??

So bench could be made up of Kamara, Shacks, James, Coops, Gruev, Darlow.

Shacks gets his gob on the programme and doesnt even make the bench :)

I reckon Cresswell makes the bench ahread of Poveda

Agree Ash, I'm beginning to sound like a broken record on this, but I think the dilemma is captaincy.
You need a leader on the pitch and Coops and Ayling are the natural choices right now. I'd worry about making Ampadu captain yet - could affect his game (we've seen that happen to players).
Struijk seems too quiet and not really a forceful presence. But maybe he can be mentored into the role by Coops and Luke, because he does seem like the logical choice for this season.

But future captain seem likely to come from Ampadu, Byrum or Rodon (if we can keep them all!).
