The fact he as been out on loan so many times gives a clue that nobody else were prepared to shell out big money out on a player whose track record is to put it mildly dodgy
He ain't the first player this club have bought for silly money who have ended up been a waste of money nor I doubt will he be the last I could give you a list as long as my arm

The last time he had a good season was the year after we got promotion COVID season when there was no crowds he scored seventeen goals that's three years ago the guy as hardly been out of the treatment room since then

I should imagine that'd be when Bert got him to peak fitness playing out of his skin where nothing could hurt him, and he silenced his critics with his feet.

The first season we got promotion there wasn'tthe crowds or the pressure on him Leeds weren't expected to finish ninth and many sides were not prepared for Leeds style of play
the second and third seasons were totally different other teams had sussed out how Leeds would play and we had no answer to it no plan b plus the squad wasn't strengthened instead we relied on many of the same players who got us promoted it was only a matter of time before bielsa got the sack and relegated down to lack of investment and stubborn management

The past is just that - water under the bridge. why fret about what PB cost when we brought him in or his history before that? Why try to assess what his transfer value might be when he is not on the transfer list nor is he making noises that he'd rather go somewhere else?

The present is that Patrick Bamford is working his way back after a prolonged period of unavailability due to injury. He not firing on all cylinders and he has been pilloried for some glaring misses and he has not helped his own cause by attempting to have a go back at those criticising him. Some of his antics have been just as plain stupid as they are surprising.

However, we are into a long haul season in the Championship and in no position to be ditching a player of the experience and skill of Patrick Bamford. He is not at the moment an automatic pick for the first 11, and he might not be again, but is an important member of our squad which has the look of a more than very decent forward line up that we have. He also gives the manager a different option to bring on depending on how a match is going.

There are other areas in the squad that should be a priority in terms reinforcement so why would you think that tinkering with the forward line is a decision that needs to be made at the moment?
