Match Thread Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread

Post by Ellandback1 »

29th November 8:45pm | Elland Road

Leeds Utd hope to get back to winning ways midweek, when Michael Duff's Swansea City visit Elland Road. The Whites remain the only unbeaten home side in the Championship this season, and are desperate for maximum points, to close the gap on the top two. They face a Jacks side with one win in six, and are fourteen places and twelve points behind them. The two sides last met during Leeds Championship winning campaign (19/20), with both sides sharing three points a-piece curtesy of last minute goals away from home!

Daniel Farke must decide whether to risk Pascal Struijk, so soon after hernia surgery. The 24 year old came on for the last 10 minutes of the Rotherham game after Liam Cooper limped off with what looked like a hamstring strain. Charlie Cresswell stands by. Like so many, Junior Firpo's display on Friday evening gave a lot to be desired, but with Byram struggling for fitness, should retain his place. Djed Spence is pushing for game time, following his return to fitness after his knee injury, which saw the on-loan Spurs defender sidelined for eight weeks.

Jamie Shackleton and Joe Gelhardt could both make the bench whilst Stuart Dallas remains a long term absentee. Joel Piroe, Dan James and Matt Grimes all face their former clubs.

I'd imagine we see Spence on the bench to start with

Everyone available for the game, except Stuart Dallas.

If Spence isn’t on the bench it’s beginning to look like he will be going back in January - would be a big shame especially when we have no proper right backs other than Ayling who looks done.

8-3, ok the Eagles are pulling out wins from losses but they should still make the play offs

Swansea always make it tough for us, I dont expect it to be any different on Wedsnesday.

I'm hoping for minutes for Spence, Shackleton and perhaps Joffy.

Between now and New Year we have a very tough schedule and need our lads sharp.

We have a wood burner ourselves, it’ll keep the Mrs warm as I freeze in the North Stand.

Two woodburners in our cottage, one in the sitting room and one in the dining room and that's it! No radiators, no central heating, no heating upstairs.....

Looking at the league table this morning I noticed we have played all of the other teams in the top 6 and all the bottom 6 teams. All the teams we haven't played yet are somewhere in between.

A win tonight is essential I think, as it looks pretty certain that Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton will all win tonight.
