Match Thread Swansea City v Leeds Utd Match Thread

Post by Ellandback1 »

13th February 7:45pm | Swansea.com Stadium

Leeds head down to the South Coast of Wales on Tuesday evening, hoping to extend their 100% win record, in their bid for automatic promotion. The Whites have won all six of their league games this year, which has seen them leapfrog the Tractor boys, and close the gap on Southampton in second place. With a third of the season still remaining, all Leeds can do is to keep the pressure on the top two, and hope they slip up.

The two sides last met at the end of November, when goals from Piroe, Rutter and James cancelled out Jamie Patterson's first minute strike. Leeds currently sit 13 places and 27 points above their opponents!

Joel Piroe, Joe Rodon, Connor Roberts and Dan James all return to the squad against their former club. James, on the bench, has overcome the knock he picked up at Preston, and has been training since Monday. Jamie Shackleton, Sam Byram (Hamstring), Karl Darlow (dislocated thumb), Pascal Struijk (groin strain) and Stuart Dallas (leg) are all ruled out for Leeds. The starting eleven is unchanged with Archie Gray, Willy Gnonto and Patrick Bamford all retaining their places despite suggestions Daniel farke could rotate the squad.

Full debut for Roberts?
Paddy to the bench, Piroe to start v his old club?

Last time I attended a night game at Swansea, I arrived home at 4am.

The game when Bielsa took off Phillips after the first 20 minutes.

We drew 2-2.

In regular circumstances a point would be a good one but with this insane top four it seems that three are needed.

Never easy in Wales but hopefully our Welsh contingent can help up negotiate this tricky game

Roberts to start and perhaps James as well.

Need to win to simply keep pace.

My mates are also travelling down there on Friday & staying overnight, glad I don't have to contemplate such exertion to watch Leeds any more, the four of them are 10/15 years younger than me, although there are few on the Griffin branch of a similar age to me.

True, we can't afford to drop points until we manage to overhaul Southampton, having a bit of a cushion.

If only we could get to that cushion...I wouldn't be surprised if we are neck and neck until the final league game, then winner takes all. That would be one hell of a match.

3 points tonight required. Simple.

One of our lads has arrived in Swansea, apparently it’s absolutely bucketing it down.

Going to be a hard game this to win. As others have said, we really need all 3 points but i have a feeling we will draw this game :(
