I did too. Not a great game. A couple of mistakes for sure. But a very good game.

And just to add some context to my earlier comment, I was referring to our front four AFTER the subs. So Bamford up top with Aaronson, Piroe, Gelhardt. And Brenden still had a LOT more energy and pace then the other three. Which tells the story of our current depth.

I bloody missed that bit, someone phoned up at the wrong time. I ask you what's wrong with people. TBF both teams should maybe have had two pens, but need to see the Bogle incident again. Leeds commentators seem to think he got away with one

My apologies Paul. Piroe and Bamford are slow, Joffy we've wasted and ruined. He is quick over short distances but he won't win a 20 yard foot race

Is it worth the risk?
Indeed. For wingers the 'red zone' for getting injuries is after the 70 minute mark. Given we have 2 wingers injured it made sense to take no risks even though it did mean we lost our momentum. It was still subs made with an eye on still carrying a threat given that we had Gelhardt, Bamford and Piroe on. Same thing with Byram coming on for Firpo it is simply precautionary to greatly reduce the risk of injury.

He was blocking the expected shot. To be fair if Sargent was playing with confidence he likely would have hit the shot. If Rodon doesn't commit to the block and Sargent had shot then it is a goal. Rodon was unlucky that Sargent managed to control it really well.

Good point on the road. Good advert for the Champ. Two in form sides. Good game. Tight game. Decisive moments are crucial. Norwich good side. Unbeaten at home.

Two in-form teams on the pitch. We allowed one mistake in our defending over the last six games. Allowed the winger to cut inside and then tackled in the box for the penalty. Difficult here at 1-0 down. Stadium buzzing. Confident players. Not easy.

We had chances. Gnonto hit the post. Unlucky we were back at half-time. Encouraged them to keep going. Not the easiest time. Injuries. Another important player out of the game. Played with a new centre. Praise my lads. Rothwell's first start in a long time.

We had the edge to win the game,. Bogle great chance. Aaronson great chance. Penalty against Gnonto. Close to three points, but Norwich in form. Sainz and Sargent. Open game. Basketball game. Both teams can live with this poi

Subs

Difficult decision. Three games in six days. Our offensive players, Largie first steps. Plan was for 60 minutes, but wanted to use him after he scored a bit longer. Gnonto could feel from 75 was finding it difficult defending and tracking back. We need all the layers available at this moment. Good to give Patrick first minutes. Desperately need him now.

Left them longer than I planned to

Gruev

Not good enough to keep going. Knee injury. Struggled to turn. Have to wait for the assessment. Tomorrow there will be a scan. Does not look great at the moment. Ao and Joe stepped up. Second half, positioning, first game together, we were open and could not control their counters. No criticism. Happy they delivered, especially Ao n their first proper league game. We will learn from this and improve positioning.

Compliments to these lads in these circumstances.

Why take Largie off at 60?

Third start. Intense game. Struggling. Workload, he will find not many wingers that deliver less distance in the league. Not criticism, but we have to work on it. We have wingers out and cannot afford another injury.
Very sensible management and Farke knows the season is just 8 games old. No point risking injuries that could completely derail the season at this point.

Judging by the motm thread I must be wrong

But I thought he had a largely ineffective game that compromised of running a lot and achieving not much.

The one time I remember him getting at the defence and having a simple through ball to play he gave it away.

Don't think he had a single shot on target or created a single chance which given that is what he's in the team to do is poor imo.

Very poor pass after he'd done the work. He's a very busy player, lacks Geo's class and creativity but you'll get a similar work rate and he can be creative with his passing. Somebody asked me on waccoe, what would I have done when Gruev got injured (I'd posted that Rothwell shouldn't have been the replacement) and I replied Aaronson to the 8, Tanaka to the 4 (which is what happened) and Piroe on as the 10/second striker.

Fairly much in agreement. He worked hard but end product was very poor. Sadly beginning to resemble the Aaronsen of 2 years ago who started the season brightly but then contributed less and less (end product wise) as the season progressed. I would have subbed him instead of Largey or Gnonto if we weren't being cautious in regards to players not getting injuries.

He was industrious, covered a lot of ground and made some timely interceptions. You are right about his final poor ball, but he wasn’t the only one. They were difficult conditions to judge a pass. Hard along the floor and it skips across that surface.

I thought Rodon was unlucky on the penalty personally. Sergeant had in fact over extended cutting back inside and Rodon caught his trailing leg which Sergeant anticipated rather nicely by leaving it in place for Rodon to slide into. Very Good player Sergeant, he would be a great signing, even if we get promoted.

Quite a few players struggled in those greasy conditions. I thought Rodon was immense in defence. Willy the pick, but Rodon, Struijk and Aaronson the other standouts for me.

No mention of attacking down the left tonight ?

2 wingers, 2 midfielders, 2 defenders. We can hardly afford risks anywhere. And if anyone is questioning subs, we saw what happened last season by Farke not using the squad more. It's 3 games in 6 days. We have to be really careful with injuries.

No worries Sub. I noticed that I hadn't been clear and actually fixed it before seeing your reply.

I disagree with regard to Joffy. I was pretty high on him until he went on loan to Sunderland. At best, he looks like a very average Championship level player to me.

The current injury list:
Ampadu
Wober
James
Solomon
Schmidt
Gruev
And add to that, Bamford clearly isn't match fit.
The international break will actually be welcome this time to gives others the chance to rest and heal.

I missed the final 50 minutes of the game due to my IPTV server breaking down.

Time to watch the full match replay on LUTV.

You didn't miss much. We were the better team, Norwich dangerous on the break (a bit like Burnley match first half after Burnley got their goal). Subs seemed to ruin our momentum but completely understandable as to why they were done given the hectic nature and our injury list.

Is Rothwell our new scapegoat?

I thought he was excellent, after Gnonto, Joe R was our most involved & productive player.

Just wanted to say that after 60 minutes I was convinced another away defeat was a certainty, same old feeling of lack of composure, not winning 50/50s and an opponent with a game plan, so to come away with a point was a pleasant surprise.
