I guess being clobbered by Struijk's knee didn't help. I felt he should've been subbed off then, but I guess Farke has no confidence in Darlow. We won't even get a rest, as half the squad are away on international duty. Even players like Crew are getting call ups now, it's a joke. There should be a maximum number of call ups a Championship side can have. Not sure Firpo, Aaronson or Tanaka will even be available for the blunts, given they'll be on the other side of the world in midweek.
Both Rodon and Bogle are a booking away from a suspension now too.

Rodon was immense last night, although he was one of four defenders ball-watching for Sunderland first goal, the ball should never have been allowed to be crossed into the box in the first place. Poor defending all round cost us in a match I thought we deserved the three points.

Yep both goals from our mistakes, rather than great play, which is frustrating. Same with the Norwich game really.
I felt we should've finished it off at 2-1, the Aaronson chance in particular, with Gnonto and Joseph either side, but he took the wrong option. There was another chance where Rothwell was in acres of space to shoot, but they ended up breaking for a corner.
I just hope these points don't end up costing us. It's not Sunderland I'm worried about, it's Burnley and the blunts. We can't afford to drop more points next game.
Their first was well worked and well deserved. I don't blame the defence for that one. You could say our first was offside and our second wouldn't have been scored if they defended it better. But isn't that every single goal scored?

A cracker of a match,two excellent teams.l can see why Sunderland are top,and if they play like that not many teams will beat them.They were without a few players as well.Very impressed with us and I think both teams will definitely be thereabouts at season end.Ghonto was outstanding and I like the smile when he gets fouled.

It was a cracker & indeed Sunderland are better than I thought under their new shrewd coach.
We got the better of them though until fortune smiled on the Mackems.

Thats what the umpire at square leg said about Gatting.. but as we all know it turned 90 degrees.
Havent seen a definitive front -on view of it, but the ball was dropping from a height with a lot of spin on it, so highly likely to deviate from a straight line. The way it flummoxed Mes , looks like it 'turned' significantly ,to my eyes.
Sunderland striker catches his eye and he’s moving left to account for that, trouble is the ball deviates very slightly and he’s beat. Seems fairly straight forward to me

I honestly don't think there's any excuse. Goalies train with balls coming from all sorts if directions at them and quickly. He should have done better imo.
