RIP Paul
From memory didn't he jump in the early 80's after the Killers album before Steve Harris gave him the boot ?.......I'm sure he since acknowledged that he probably deserved the push given his unreliability at the time.
A completely different style to Bruce ........but I don't think Maiden would have gone on to have the huge success and longevity they have if they'd kept PD and not replaced him with Bruce

Re: RIP To Those Departed
Paul left Iron Maiden in 1981 and was the vocalist on their first *2 albums, Bruce Dickinson took over and catapulted them into the big time.
I have seen Maiden about 18 times from 1980 onwards.
I saw Paul Di'Anno play a small show in Bradford last year, he was in a wheelchair and could only do an hour set before he had to go get some pain relief.
He had complications from sepsis that left him with infections which lead to pneumonia and a swollen leg which needed lymphatic drainage treatments, Maiden paid for his surgery.
*It was the artwork on those first 2 albums that got me further into art/illustration and design.
Maiden always had great album covers.
RIP Paul.

Classic for me, prefer it to the Tarzans ...A bit camp but great fun. Superman was inspired by Doc Savage originally
