He was too good for us. Someone called him a cheat code if we'd kept him this season. He's playing a leading role for Brighton. So no way we could have ever hoped to have kept him.

Yet we didn't see it coming with most here moaning we wouldn't get close to our money back.

It took us a while to settle. Bristol had the best of the first 30 minutes and had a lot of corners in that time. But I don't remember once when they ever looked like scoring. I don't think there was one nervous moment in the whole game.

As for creativity, I thought we brought Rothwell in to give us that cutting edge through the middle. Didn't see much from him today.

Rothwell is a solid squad player, but I never saw him as a game changer. People were waxing lyrical about the new midfield pairing after Sheffield Utd. If he could play like that week in week out regardless of the opposition he would not have moved around so much, particularly on loan.

On Rothwell: I thought he'd be the player to break down defensive teams like Bristol City. And would have expected us to go with more defensive options against teams like Sheff United.

Neither Piroe nor Joseph demanding a start. It's disappointing. Piroe drifts anonymous. Joseph misses chances. I'm not going to say who I think is our most complete striker of the three. I often wonder if it comes down to our 3 attacking players not offering the right chances too. All inexperienced. All seem to pick the wrong option too many times.

My complaint. Farke has opportunities to get his squad players on earlier. But doesn't seem to trust them.

Plenty of times this season that he could get Byram on from the 65th minute. Against Sunderland at 2-1, he had plenty of time to make a defensive sub and take off Aaronson or one of the wingers. And what's his assessment on Schmidt? Not good enough? I think he's played 8 minutes total. He's scared to make a substitution. But we all know the fatigue killed us last season. He's got to trust those bench players with more time. Especially our bench players who are good enough and would be starting for most of the teams we play against - Byram, Bamford, Joseph, Schmidt, Solomon, Gelhardt

For the most part of the last 6 matches, he’s gotten the subs, and their timing, right. This match was a reversion back to last season’s failed ways.

Agreed re: opening them up enough to win. The 9 spot is an agonizing dilemma. With Bamford (thought he was still recovering) getting a run out today, I suspect his time as a starter might be soon…. queue the arguing over that, but if we’re better with him in the lineup than the other two, I’m all for it.

You asked me last week why I'm so pessimistic about Leeds Utd. Thats one example today. We were awful when everyone expected a great performance and win. Leeds United don't need an opponent to beat them, they beat themselves.

We certainly drew with ourselves today, only a matter of time before we beat ourselves if we continue to be so wasteful & making so many wrong decisions.

We started poorly last season (We get 9 from the next 12 over the next 4 games)

We are ticking along ok for me, particularly with the injuries to key players (albeit Rothwell and Tanaka have proven able deputies).

We all want more points, of course we do, but come the end of the season we will be there or thereabouts.

Frustrating game today and we didn't get any uplift from our substitutions as they were just as ineffective as the ones that played before. However with better and more precise passing we should have been in on goal at least twice more so that was disappointing and sloppy from the players involved which I think were Gnonto and Piroe. There was another great chance when Joseph headed over seconds after coming on and watching the replay from behind the goal he probably should have scored.

Not sure we played well enough to deserve all three points though and maybe the fact rugby is played on that pitch as well didn't help.

Yeah reckon so, no really dicey moments. Think Tanaka is brilliant with snuffing out danger before it has a chance to progress, great pick up him.

Tbh, on Rothwell wasnt expecting much and got more than I thought we were getting so happy, not a standout performer but ticks us over. Bit part squad player at Southampton in a side that didn't look totally convincing last year. Good squad player.

Like they weren't really a settled championship side in terms of infrastructure, starting 11 etc.

If a Leeds, Southampton, Sunderland go up the wealth generated added to the already pretty well fleshed out infrastructure means they're a cut above anything in championship. Bit of a merry go round at the top of championship/bottom of the prem its turning into.
