Schmidt looked decent![]()
Gilly played in the back four and looked like a ponderous liability.
It was a plodding victory. We don't move the ball quickly enough and decisively.
Credit to Harrogate, they played a low block and battled for everything, very plucky performance.

Didn't really have an opportunity, the one he did get wasn't great.
But he did well on some other things.
However DF really went above on beyond to support Mes, basically said you'd be an idiot to drop him so I can't see it.

Has nobody here any connections at the club to get Meslier injured in training? Like having a word with Rodon to clatter him?

Not really. If we show a bit more composure and take our chances first half we cruise through. Usual story though.

Farke will want someone ok with the ball first, it seems catching and flapping aren't important, even though they'll cost us promotion.

Re: Leeds Utd v Harrogate Town Match Thread
Farke is here
You have to respect the quality of the opponents. In the first half we missed too many chances. In the centre ther was no space. |Sometimes you have to tire them.
We had 10-15 mins whne they tried to come back into the game. But well done for Harrogate. We are pleased we are through to the next round.
It's good we brought minutes to some players.
Not using youngsters
I don't believe too much in giving gifts away to youngsters and don't see them for the next three years. Or that's fishing for compliments. It's important for Isaac and Josh to get in the starting line-up.
We have competition back. We saw this game as an important situation.
On Darlow
It's always difficult when you don't play for a while. Two or three situations he was switched on. He was really professional today.
Squad strength
I think Josuha did OK in the centre-back position. Yes it wasn't the biggest challenge in defending today. It was important to see them.
We don't have too many options in the central position. It was a very important 90 minutes for the whole squad.
Gruev return
It was no gift. I'm careful after a long-term injury but he was so sharp this week. I was really surprised. I wanted to use this momentum.
Piroe
He had a little muscle injury. I hope Thursday latest he will be back.
Schmidt
He is a really attacking full-back. He is adventurous. It's difficult to judge right now. It's important for him and his confidence. He looked sharp in many situations. It was benfifical for him his performance.

Schmidt and Ramazzani real options after that game this evening ... great to see and more to come from both.
Darlow did what he had to do ... couple of wobbles but would not be too concerned if he got a start next game.

Farke being gracious as always.

I felt he left his options open. Both criticised and backed Meslier but certainly left enough wriggle room to be able to say he was resting Meslier in coming weeks. I felt Darlow did well, one good save, one good piece of anticipation (probably didn't count as a save on xg etc but if he doesn't anticipate that then they have a big chance). Flapped a bit at one cross, didn't see a replay of it though to see f he was impeded. Generally didn't get any backpasses to control and pass on in the way Meslier does but that was largely due to Harrogate not really pressing our defenders so they didn't need to pass to him.

"It would be a sign of madness to think about making a change. We would be the only club in the whole history of football to be top of the table after 60% of games, who is eight games unbeaten, more points than anyone else over the festive period and then we panic about our highly-rated number one?weasel wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 8:30 pm I felt he left his options open. I was still awake, enjoyed a good evening out, nowhere near as cold as I expected.
