That result was inches away from being 2-2 ,I've never seen us miss so many chances by so many players.

Quite correct - we owe Meslier a huge vote of thanks for his two super saves. I was one of his detractors but that performance was top class.
A win is a win but hell we should have had 7 or 8. I can only think that the lads were missing sitter after sitter as a tribute to Bamford !!

WOuldn't be surprised if our xg tonight was higher than it was against Cardiff. Was dreading Coventry nicking an undeserved goal and turning the match on its head. Gave me vibes about the Derby play-off second leg when we were in absolute control and didn't kill it off.

Why some of our fans thought Coventry would draw or even beat us is baffling.

I suppose if you don't watch other championship matches apart from Leeds, one can convince themselves the likes of Cardiff & Coventry were on a good run, so we'd struggle to beat them.

The difference in our quality in comparison to the other championship clubs is massive!

Yes, we may lose the odd game, but I would assume our win rate is around 90% right now.

Who or what would you say this is down to? The club have offloaded over £100m in talent, and replaced them with £4m players with seemingly no regress, where does the credit go? The American owners?

Yes I know it's not popular to give them credit, but you can definitely say we're a well run club now. Well scouted players by the recruitment team and not just throwing huge sums at average players.

Have to admit to being one of the doubters about last night’s match but after such an amazing away performance I’m starting to think we might actually do it.

Watched the game last night. Couldn’t watch in real time as I had back to back meetings. I really need the FA to do something about these 1:00pm MST kickoff times

Anyway, sorry I missed the festivities. Here are my initial thoughts:

It was quite entertaining! I’m surprised that we only wound up with 2 goals. Lampard clearly gambled on playing the high line. I think our players were equally shocked that that strategy was employed and that must have contributed to the poor end product. We could have had 10 (or more) goals!

Our front 4 looked dangerous (again the lack of end product).

Meslier came through with several saves, two very good ones. Nice to see a bounce back from him.

Thought the Gruev and Tanaka pairing was strange and ineffective. Gruev, in particular, failed to impress. Would have liked to see Rothwell in for Gruev around the 70th minute. Would’ve likely improved our attacks against Frank’s high line as well as our corner distribution.

Thought the official was overly reliant on his whistle and the linesman was overly “flaggy”….for instance, was that offsides on the Firpo goal? There wasn’t a replay and the American feed wasn’t clear, IMHO. And that no call on the first foul on Aaronson in the penalty area was shocking. Penalty all day long. Thought Aaronson went down a little too softly on the second…probably more of an attempt at giving the official a make up opportunity. Overall, the officials were awful and I normally don’t say anything about them. Think VAR might’ve overruled half their critical calls.

The issue isn't now, it's April/May time when the pressure really ramps up and the crowd start to get nervous etc.

it seems that is only by repeating something often enough that people will learn that only
3-5% of corners result in a goal.

If you can appreciate that then you won't be worried when opponents get a corner, and you won't be disappointed when we don't score from a corner.

You can relax if can internalise that simple fact.

The biggest difference is we're now paying championship prices and not premiership ones... try buying 5 premiership quality players for 20M

Regardless of the quality of the corner, it is still only a few percent that go in.

I would suggest you look at the number of corners taken and the number of goals scored and calculate the percentage... that might convince you or just google % goals scored from a corner if you don't want to work it out.
