andrewjohnsmith wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 5:28 pm I agree that has been a great finisher. But he has been going through a dry patch. A few games and today he missed a few.

I did think he had a decent all round game today. Better effort and contributions than he normally offers. But he really should have had a couple of goals.
He couldn’t finish his dinner today.

Did he actually hit the target once?

After he and Willy spurned gilt-edged chances just after half-time I thought it was going to be one of those days.

As it turns out, those of us of a much-denigrated happy-clappy persuasion, though overwhelmingly prominent among those willing to actually make a prediction a few games ago, can tonight bask in the knowledge that it’s once again in our hands and looking rosy.

Great results today, PL on the horizon barring an apocalyptic falling away.

No!

Isn't that what strikers are supposed to do?

Has Farke ever forgiven Ramazanni for doing his back flip celebration... when it came to Rutter he was against showboating.

My second all-time player after Billy.

Extremely skilful & hard as nails.

Watching Billy & Johnny strut their stuff every week was sheer Joy!

Not to forget Eddie Gray Mr. 64. What a team. Other fans hated us, like many hated Man U, because in their respective heydays the teams were untouchable. (Sorry for mentioning that other team in the same breath..

I can't forget any of those Revie squads, David.

As a kid, I loved Johanneson, Collins, Peacock, Bell, Greenhoff, Storrie, Weston & others from the early years right through to the household names in the glory years.

What a time to be a young boy growing up in the early 60s to being a 20yo when Leeds won the First Division (as it was then) the league for a second time under Revie in 1974.

Graeme Souness wrote an article in a tabloid yesterday naming the best 10 midfielders he ever played against.

The article also had pictures of ; Platini, Bremner and Brady with the caption below it ; " World beaters ; I faced this wonderful trio and they all just oozed class. "

He wrote about Bremner ;

" Billy was full of aggro, always chirping. He wasn't the biggest in stature at a time when there was proper thuggery around, but he could handle it. He was always too cute and too clever to come off second best. A most marvellous little footballer to watch. He had a great brain, that never-say-die attitude and he hated losing. "

Bremner and Giles were the first two mentioned in Souness' list of all time great midfielders that he faced.

I've always respected Souness's opinions, even more now. I'm in good company.
