Another excellent clip ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6G43TT6lxA

Near the end, Eddie Gray mentions an FA Cup tie against Arsenal, when Eddie was manager, and how at ER we were close to winning it, but Graham Rix scored a late free kick to take the tie to Highbury. Brought back memories, as I was in the crowd that day....

Just look at our pitch in mid-April.

It's like a bowls green.

Yep me too.

John Lukic got done at his near post from about 35 yards if I remember correctly.

I think so.

And Aidan Butterworth got our goal in front of the Kop from what I remember.

Billy B, Hunter, Peter Lorimer all were great and Giles seemed to bring out the best in them.

On Goole or You Tube there is an interview with Eddie Gray about Giles that really tells the story just what he brought to the team

Love our present team but wish we had a few of them playing with us now.
Spot on. Giles was naturally two footed and made thirty odd yard passes look simple. The one from that era we could do with now is Allan Clark - he didn't miss many when given the chance.

That for me was the biggest disappointment against Swansea and Boro - we didn't control the match despite being in front. It was back to normal v Preston, in front and then keeping possession, keeping the opposition at arms length and simply not taking the chance to finish the game - but we have seen that so many times and often then get the late second to win 2-0.

Against Swansea and Boro we just seemed to be trying to play the glory ball and trying to hit them on the counter. We didn't take control of either game and we do that with the possession game. It may have been down to how Swansea and Boro pressed us rather than a deliberate tactic but for me we needed to show more composure in those games and simply pass the game to death.

I think I mentioned we lacked composure in both the Swansea/Boro match day threads. I do believe we'd have settled down, had either the Tanaka or Bamford's goals were not disallowed vs Boro'

Swansea played well against us in both matches this season and they deserve a lot of credit for those performances.
