Good first half performance, without creating too many clear cut chances.
Second half was more even and needed to battle more to stay with the game.

A whole team performance and a welcome 3 points onto Arsenal.

Jack took off his shirt and gave it to a kid in the crowd. It was not thrown back in his face like Rutter's was.

Also the penalty was a result of Jack's cross and the ping pong that resulted from it before Anton's strike.

It is all about Jack's rehabilitation. I don't understand the cutting off your nose to spite your face attitude of some fans... besides he is hardly ever injured so that is one more positive for him.

He's a tenacious little soul isn't he, tbf you cam be smaller of stature but have great balance and upper body strength

He was immense.

I disagree on JH I don't understand it, his experience has largely been as an underperforming but safe player.

Largie got 3 goals and 5 assists in just 16 starts in La Liga season before we signed him.

He seems to possess exactly what we need? Harrison is safe and inoffensive but unlikely to ever be a match winner, Largie could be.

I see it more as a fitness thing and we need to get fitter for the PL.

Fitness will increase mate but they ran their socks off, there isnt a team in the world who wouldnt feel it after doing that. The fact they they were still pressing beyond the 90 minutes is testament to what great condition the players are in.

Itll be interesting to see how much distance the team covered tonight.

Although I expected VAR to overturn the penalty decision as a defender it was definitely deliberate. Moving towards the ball you wouldn't put your arms behind your back as that movement would twist your torso and make you a smaller obstacle. You should actually raise your arm (the left arm in this instance), which gets the arm out of the way and also pushes your chest to the side and makes it a much bigger area. Raising the arm though is dangerous because obviously if the ball then hits it you have no real defence as it is seen as you moving the arm unaturally. As such for me Tarkowski moved his body to the left and left his arm at his side deliberately thinking he would get away with it.

Definite pen... just looked wrong, using your arm while holding it by your side while claiming natural position is just trying to cheat the system. I think if it wasn't given then VAR wouldn't have reversed it.

Note saying it's all that it is, but in this instance at least comes down to game state, which makes sense, especially considering first match of the season, the "must-win" nature, 0-0 score, etc.

The cynic in me would suggest it was all a club orchestrated pr exercise. Give the kid the sing and make sure Jack goes over and gives the kid the shirt. Doubt there were two kids with the same sign so Jack spotting the 1 kid in the crowd with that sign is quite a coincidence.
