Re: Sheffield Wednesday v Leeds Utd Match Thread
You just knew how our team started that we were in for a bore fest of back back side side back back back side....we just didn't get going until half way through the second half. Shocking and abysmal. Its rather quite baffling.

Stats don't tell it. We certainly weren't unlucky tonight. Not like their goalie had a blinder. Maybe had a lot of chances. But not enough of those deserved a goal.
What was really lacking was the pace, energy, and endeavour. There wasn't one player trying to take the game by the scruff of the neck. There wasn't one -player waving their arms and yelling at team mates to get some impetus. Rodon and Ampadu are probably the only two we have that do that. We need a whole lot more drive and desire in this squad.

Same tactics that were also reminiscent of far more good championship results.

It's also the nature of football. We score in the first half, go in front and we probably go on to win comfortably. We don't score, Sheff Wed stay in the match and nick a goal. Against Arsenal we could easily have nicked the goal through Struyjk, against the tun of play and the result changes on just one thing.

Very true
A whole host of them.
But most disappointed in our big buys, Okafor, Bijol, DCL and Longstaff
All 4 of them were hopeless
Least with BA we expect it.
Had hope for them.

It may upset a few but that was another spineless performance. I'm of the belief that winning breeds confidence irrespective of the competition. The concerns are there already and it doesn't bode well for this campaign. The recruitment looks all wrong for this level, we really needed to bring in better. We are not going to be able to wing it as our frailties will be exposed. Hopefully after the last two performances, the owners work hard in bringing the quality needed.

Weirdly, we started last season similarly.
I can't hide the fact that I'm very concerned for our Premier League campaign.

Surely our board has to act in positive manner now with at least a couple of quality game-changers.Carrick Dave wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 9:53 pm Dare I suggest that this will not make recruitment any easier between now and Monday.
Sentimentality has to be chucked out of the window, as sadly several of our championship squad are certainly not good enough to start PL games.
Gruev being cover for Ampadu is a joke!

Farke hasn't got a clue,I assume he has said yes to all these players the blame stops at his door I personally thought for his first outing okofar did ok dcl was rusty and like all our keepers Darlow made mistake.I still think it was a mistake not playing parri why would you not play someone who needs confidence in that match I think possibly he will play Darlow on sat but on the performance we could get another battering and farke needs to be really careful cos I don't think the 49ers will put up with it for long and he will be GONE and it's his fault only .

Damn, woke up at stupid o’clock this morning and for a blissful 30 seconds I thought last night was just a horrible nightmare. Nope.

So you’ve wrote them all off after their first competitive starts for the club in a cup game where we made wholesale changes?

Perri was brought in as the No1 keeper. That will not change regardless of his performances in the short term. Why would he be low on confidence - a bad result ? Goalkeepers are a lot more resilient than that mate.Johnsie123 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 6:29 am Farke hasn't got a clue,I assume he has said yes to all these players the blame stops at his door I personally thought for his first outing okofar did ok dcl was rusty and like all our keepers Darlow made mistake.I still think it was a mistake not playing parri why would you not play someone who needs confidence in that match I think possibly he will play Darlow on sat but on the performance we could get another battering and farke needs to be really careful cos I don't think the 49ers will put up with it for long and he will be GONE and it's his fault only .
For all Mes ‘s mistakes last season he was never short on confidence.
Darlow is backup and Farke plays the back up in league cup games. It is all as simple as that.

That is what he does. Although he will say being disappointed is not writing a player off.
The spinner of despair.
Here are the key points:
It was a league cup game - seen it all before. Be honest - very few really gives a sh1t about that cup.
We are seeking to finish 17th - staying up is the real test. We will lose a lot of games this season. No point despairing after every loss. It isn’t good for the head.

Exactly Swannie. We saw this match countless times before, hence why no one was shocked when the wendies scored. But apparently the tactics were not to blame, yeah right.
