If he goes then I guess you just have to look at the immediate positives in that we will hopefully be saving on some/all of his wages and he has the opportunity to put himself in the shop window which he wouldn't be getting here.

All abouit timing, there was a time to sell JH and it was when the Niners kyboshed it. Before that he was still needed and maybe not as valuable or worth selling. The Newcastle bid was an excellent one IIRC

Hadn't realised that I'd made such a throwaway remark! January is a strange Transfer Window though.

It really would not make any sense to get a youngster in with a view to developing him or a squad player that is going to sit on the bench more likely than not. There are other clubs with deeper pockets than us so I'm not sure we're in a position to outbid a rival.

If we get any player in surely it has to be someone that is a contender for a first 11 place? There is a price tag on that kind of player. However, if, for example, we can get Harry Winson from Foolum I think it would be quite a coup for us - his contract is up at the end of the season and he could walk for nothing; Foolum might be willing to do a deal. Alternatively, we might uncover another Raphinha - now wouldn't that be something?
