Wolves, Sunderland and Burnley I'd have said start of the season (if not us).
Now?
Not sure.
West Ham probably over Forest.
As said elsewhere I think is a lot of average teams, very few poor ones or good ones.
So hard to call.

It was a beautiful sentiment and if only more had seen it for what it was we could have had world peace by now.Sean_Nile wrote: ↑Sat Feb 07, 2026 11:35 am The championship was so easy last year it was a cakewalk for Leeds to win the title, they had no opposition at all.
on the last day when Farke knew he had won the championship, you could see him kneeling on the ground... he was so ashamed that he had won it with no real opposition. and he was taking the knee for black lives matter, as an act of contrition for being a German, and apologizing to everyone for the German involvement in second world war

Re: Leeds United v Nottingham Forest Match Thread
I think it is about having a sense of realism. When we were losing 7-0 or 6-2 it was with a decimated side that would have proabbly only been midtable in the championship. Whilst not obviously enjoying those beatings, especially to rivals, it was for me far more of an indictment of poor recruitment than Bielsa having lost the plot. Bielsa had even told them that the squad needing overhauling, he had gotten as much as he could out of several players. I still feel that the way he had us playing gave the side the best chance of surviving. Sure we would get d*cked by some but we were also capable of beating the lesser teams by playing the same way as evidenced by beating West Ham and drawing 3-3 with Villa during our bad run.CHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Sat Feb 07, 2026 12:07 pm Sentiment fluctuates - prior to the Man City game most on here were bemoaning what looked like poor recruitment in the summer, and being conned into overpaying for the likes of Longstaff.
Okafor gets lots of criticism, and then has a really good game. Then the criticism stops, and if he continues in the same vein any criticism will eventually fade away. Look at Aaronson, or Farke for that matter prior to the City game.
Sentiment and the balance of sentiment shift like sand. It's always been that way.
It goes the other way too. Some thought that people being " happy clappys " when we used to lose PL games 7-0 or 6-2 against sides that the club has a long tradition of rivalry with, were not understanding or respecting the club's history - particularly the Revie legacy.

In fairness, many at the time felt that the batterings were partly at least down to the inflexible man marking system, which resulted in our CBs being pulled all over the pitch to where the opposition wanted them. So massive holes opened up in the centre of the pitch.weasel wrote: ↑Sat Feb 07, 2026 3:23 pm I think it is about having a sense of realism. Pundits in the media were all highly critical of this tactic at the time, and the inflexibility of Bielsa's thinking.

I heard that the Trump is thinking of giving the Nobel peace prize that María Corina Machado of Venezuela passed on to him to Daniel in appreciation of the stirling work that he has done for world peace.
I would surmise that the upturn in Leeds form coincides with Daniel hearing the news about the Nobel peace prize... it must have been a gigantic boast to his confidence and it has permeated though the entire team... and has resulted in the premiership being so underwhelming this year because everyone is in awe of such a great honour being accorded to the Leeds manager.

Pundits in the media wanting to show they were smarter than Bielsa, knew more about football and tactics etc. Most of those so called experts having never managed, at any level, or failed as amangers. Easy to pause the video and say look at this shape etc.CHAPELALLMAN wrote: ↑Sat Feb 07, 2026 4:45 pm In fairness, many at the time felt that the batterings were partly at least down to the inflexible man marking system, which resulted in our CBs being pulled all over the pitch to where the opposition wanted them. At the end of the day, the proof of the pudding's in the eating. We have had 13 managers in the PL in total, including caretakers, and I think this is our 15th PL season.
We have never had those kinds of drubbings either before or since that period. At the end of the day, that's why the club sacked him, and IMO they were quite right to do so.

In most recent seasons you would feel reasonably comfortable with 29 points from 25 games but at the moment we could be heading for a record level of points required to stay up. Other than arsenal at the top and wolves and Burnley at the bottom there is very little consistency of performance or results in the remaining 17 teams that allows you to comfortably predict the results ( my excuse for my poor position in the predict 6 table).
Spurs, palace or Brighton look on paper to have too much quality to be dragged in but could easily be. I believe we are out performing against the quality in our team but provided we can avoid injuries to key players, then we should comfortably exceed 40 points and surely be safe? It's typical Leeds that we are probably going to biting our finger nails into May when in other years we would almost be mathematically safe by end of April.

I’ve piped down as I think Farke deserves some of credit. He finally gave the 3-5-2 a shot and it’s paid off handsomely. Who could’ve imagined him doing that?? Only downside is that I still feel he could bring subs on a bit earlier at times, such as this recent Forest match, but that’s a minor gripe. Generally, he’s improved a lot on that front, as well. Ultimately, he’s got the squad playing incredibly well out there. Hats off to him. Now keep it going, Herr Farke1964white wrote: ↑Sat Feb 07, 2026 12:17 pm There is far too much criticism of our players & Farke, imo!
Expectations are far too high with some folk!
We were always going to lose football matches after our promotion to the Premier League.
We've performed remarkably well in the main, we must have one of the best home records in this league.
Time to chill out & enjoy the rest of the season.

More observations from the game.
For a 15-minute period in the opening 25 minutes, we created our own downfall with some slack passing, setting up at least five Forest attacks, before our two goals.
Bogle's sweet finish was with his left foot.
It's been a while since I saw a goal scored from the chest, great improvisation from Big Dom.
Never seen Gruev play more forward, even Tony Dorigo made the point in his commentary.
Forest's influential midfielder Gibbs-White subbed after 67 minutes, shows how well we played.
Aaronson fouled four times, as a consequence, only once Brenden won a free-kick, booted in the ribs once.
For all their tough stuff, Forest received only one yellow card.
We won 25 defensive headers in all, but we struggled with aerial duals in our box. Forest won six headers in our six yard box, the final one conceding a goal from 'my name is Lucca' a giant of a man. Maybe, Bijol would have stopped him.

Yup, we would've stayed up comfortably the last two seasons with this points total already.foxy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 07, 2026 5:49 pm In most recent seasons you would feel reasonably comfortable with 29 points from 25 games but at the moment we could be heading for a record level of points required to stay up.
