Not much point in learning how to spell Buononotte after that experience.

Remind me how many caps has Piroe to his name?
I think he would be yes if used correctly.

I also think he'd score against Lichtenstein and Armenia who account for over 50% of Nmecha's international minutes, Germany scored 13 goals and Nmecha scored none.

I don't think the international argument does him any favours.

I actually quite like Nmecha, think he took his goal well

But I do believe Jp would as well if given a chance

They can play for the u23s.

DF doesn't allow it.

When Ampadu came on, Longstaff and Tanaka were both pushed further forward to press their defence into making errors.
That’s fine (for me) but I don’t like him alongside Ampadu, we had our worst run of results then.

That's a weird approach.

How would you expect peripheral players to stay match fit if they're only training and given charity minutes?

Is this not just gonna encourage players to become disenchanted and leave?

Fair enough Casilla and Darlow have spent a lot of their careers on the bench, but this must feel pointless when your only chance of playing football is someone getting injured, I'll or suspended.

No wonder they look rusty as hell.

Gnonto basically played right wing back today, seems to be getting a lot of flak for not being utterly awesome in a completely unfamilar role at the wrong end of the pitch today. Think, say, Calvert Lewin would not have a good game playing in goal. Could be wrong, call it a hunch

Players are always match fit, the level of training these days ensures that. . What they are not necessarily is sharp and have perhaps lack that competitive edge and understanding with team mates.

Feel rather sorry for Gnonto who was employed as a wing back again.

But the fact is when you get a chance you have to take it and none of the fringe squad players did enough to make Farke reconsider his best 11.

Using that logic, Firpo needs 3 more caps for the Dominican Republic to be a better player than Tony Dorigo

Are our older players allowed to play in the U23s?

Our key championship players, not the new boys, is why we're where we are now. Rodon, Struijk, Amps, Gruev, Bogle, Aaronson have been the best players this season for us. Stach and DCL have been top additions and are in our top 8. Jury out on the rest though Gudds has been solid and we're just only really seeing Justin very recently

Yes, you can play up to 5 a game plus a keeper.

Yeah Bielsa used to.

Farke doesn't at all.

Not even the ones who are young enough.

That's the important part though.

I don't understand why you wouldn't, it means we have players on our bench who have played like 5 games worth of minutes in 6 months.

How can they be expected to be ready to go from training games to competitive fixtures vs opposition players who play regularly.

Stick them in the u21s and their value will plummet

It won't really and in the long run it'll mean they're ready when called on. They don't have to become 21's and play every game, just a couple in a row. They'll still be in the first team squad all season irrespective of games they play in.

Playing 5 minutes off the bench and for a disperate cup team will see value plummet

I suppose today was a game to shine, but by no means easy for any of the players.

Will be interesting to see what side he puts out in the next round, depends on who we get to some degree, but this is what happens at the top level. Tanaka should have thrived in midfield, he was poor in possession at times, even with time on the ball.

Piroe struggles in our current set up, probably why he didn’t start. It looks like a bleak proposition for him to force his way into the starting 11 this season unless we have a plague of injuries.

I will be surprised if he is still at the club next season, particularly as Gray will be back from his loan spell and fighting for a place and we will be looking to get another 9. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gnonto moves on also.

Justin has taken his chance and Born is a rock solid defender who will get plenty of minutes during the rest of the season. So it isn’t impossible to force your way into the starting 11. Gruev is perhaps the biggest evidence of that.

Has he ? Not so certain even though he had a great game today. Pretty certain Farke starts Darlow next game.
