I’d be staggered if he starts at Old Trafford, barring an injury to Darlow.

Me too. The 2 occasions where Bijol shouted at him is for me the biggest reason why Darlow is preferred. You need to be able to depend on your keeper, need him to do the routine stuff. You'd much rather have a steady keeper than a keeper that is brilliant one moment and a liabilty the next.Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2026 7:29 pm I’d be staggered if he starts at Old Trafford, barring an injury to Darlow.
You can also add the time where he stayed rooted to his line instead of strolling out to the left to collect a ball that was comfortably his, think Struyjk shouted at him that time. And of course the moment of madness with the header.
For me with Perri he has potential, has good ability but it shows that he hasn't played many matches as his decision making is suspect.
Made some excellent saves today but could have cost us 4 goals.

Darlow doesn't make that save imo. Perri is the better keeper plus free v 16M should really see him starting. Both Darlow and Perri have at least one wtf moment in a game thoughBarlow Boy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2026 7:29 pm I’d be staggered if he starts at Old Trafford, barring an injury to Darlow.
. I'll need to see the "header" again for positioning as a lot depends on if he thought he was close to the edge of the box. Do keepers still get sent off for handball for stopping a scoring opportunity.
Remember a keeper doing that and getting sent off.. Did remind me of the Casilla charge out which he got the blame for despite it being cooper error. Not sure what happened to our defence that side that Perri was basically one on one in the first place

He wouldn't be the first goalie to struggle a bit in his first Prem season (nor the first to be a bit erratic in general).
I think his peak is higher than Darlow in the sense of games like yesterday he can make some brilliant saves.
Darlow maybe a bit steadier but interestingly Perri actually has a higher season save percentage.
Are areas Perri can work on as you say but part of those would come with understanding with his defenders which won't be easy given he hasn't been able to build one.

I think Perri has been the better keeper tbh. One worldie yesterday, couple of good saves and he saves pens. Both Darlow and Perri have at least one wtf moment per game. GK's of the class of Wilson, Jennings, Parks, Seaman just don't exist anymore for one reason or another

McCoist mentioned that Perri maybe thought he was very near the edge of the of his area and so thought he had to head it.The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2026 10:01 pm Darlow doesn't make that save imo. Did he take his eye off the ball at that moment to get his bearings and mistimed the header?

So many things to think about there, not least he could get sent off (I think)
Anyway Tati was half a body offside trying to jump the gun so it matters not.

Perri definitely has potential. Made some good saves and with experience, more matches, could be a very decent keeper. The trouble is that if you have a keeper, learning on the job, then he is gonna cost the team goals - we have seen that with Messlier.
His peak should be higher than Darlow. We have seen Darlow's career and for the most part he has been a championship starter or first team keeper at lower prem level - when the team (Newcastle) improved they went for a different keeper.
Darlow is steadier and the fact Perri has a higher season save percentage can be misleading. If you are steadier you may do some things which prevent the shot happening - an example would be if Perri had have strolled to his left and picked up a ball that was comfortably his. He didn't and West Ham had an attack. Or if you read something early you maybe come out and claim the ball rather than waiting which allows the striker to get to the ball first. So you have not made a save but you have kept the ball out of the net rather than allwoign the striker a shot. One of the times when Bijol shouted at him West Ham nearly got a goal from what shoud have been a routine ball collection. So steady is better than a keeper who may make more saves but also gifts opposition extra chances.
I think Rodon and Ampadu are far more comfortable with Darlow. After seeing Struyjk and Bijol lambast Perri yesterday I would they they are too. So given that having a good understanding between keeper and defenders is vital then Darlow has that and Perri doesn't.
Not sure where we go with Perri. My feeling is that if we could recoup most of what we paid then selling him is likely the best option and a better option than starting him, at present.

Re: Lucas Perri
The trouble is that it wasn't just the one wtf moment with Perri. The mistake is probably the least worrying of the 4 errors he made for me - it is just one of those moments that can happen. The other 3 though ( the 2 occasions where Bijol b*llocked him and the occasion where Struyjk did) were just very poor decision making and that is harder to put right. Those are the things that shouldn't happen. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 5:19 pm I think Perri has been the better keeper tbh. One worldie yesterday, couple of good saves and he saves pens. So for all he made some great saves, possibly ones Darlow wouldn't, as a defender I would rather play in front of Darlow than him.

Personally on the evidence so far I do not rate Perri as a better option than Darlow.
As a pro keeper you would expect him to make good saves - all pro keepers do. His decision making as others point out is very eccentric. I am
Not writing him off - alot of top keepers over the years have been basket cases.
But I prefer Darlow’s stability for the run in.

Whilst introducing the new manager to the press Torino's sporting direction confirmed he will meet with a player, club and the players people on Monday.
The player has already expressed desire to join Torino.
That player is believed to be Lucas Perri.

What F**ker said that?
Leaving us with 0 goalkeepers
I just don't see how selling Perri helps our PSR because nobody is giving us what we paid! And a replacement is definitely costing more. We also need at least 2 goalkeepers if Perri goes. Makes no sense at all to sell him unless he is 100% done here!

Re: Lucas Perri
There has to be a glitch in the matrix, it looks like the data boys have got their algorithm all wrong. Meslier to Arsenal, Darlow to Manchester United, and Perri to Torino, that leaves us with no goalkeepers.
This must be an inscrutable plan by the 49ers

I mentioned last night that on the BBC Gossip column they want to sign him on loan. Considering they couldn't afford his wages, that would end in us paying at least half and they don't pay a loan fee.

Re: Lucas Perri
I don't have a problem about Perri to Torino as I don't think he's Premier League quality. Some will disagree but that is my opinion.
If the Italians want him they will need to put proper money on the table. It musn't be the case that LUFC give Torino (or any other club) a financial helping hand; why would Leeds do that?
In terms of any transfer fee for Perri, we'd bloody lucky to get a third of what we paid for him

Maybe we're planning on playing monkey rush goalie next season?
