Re: Charlie Cresswell
Cresswell perceived overinflated ego based entirely on Daniel Farke.
Farke perceived ego based on far more.

He was proven wrong as the season we didn't get promoted is the season he froze CC outJammy 07 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2026 10:05 am Farke wasn't wrong though as he made the decision in the best interests of the team/squad and since then we've been successful.
Lewie Coyle, Cody Drameh, Darko Gyabi and Joe Gelhardt (pending) could all be playing PL football next season as well but when we let them go it was also the right decision each and every time.
The following season CC was playing top level football and we were still in the Championship
So CC showed he was right to back his ability and 4th choice wasn't correct.
Can you really say Cresswell was unreasonable to feel he should be ahead of Liam Cooper? Because that's apparently all he wanted
Or how about Farke telling Cresswell to leave in public then blocking him leaving.

Not proven as there is no proof that having CC would have led to promotion. It is like saying the dog s**t in the garden is keeping tigers away. There is no proof that the dog s**t is keeping tigers away but as there are no tigers you jump to an incorrect conclusion.Cjay wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2026 10:31 am He was proven wrong as the season we didn't get promoted is the season he froze CC out

Re: Charlie Cresswell
It is curious how some of our fans coninually run down players who have given their all for the club over the least 3 years and fawn over players that have left or have rarely featured.
I can't work out why that is...
Oh yes it is so they can have a go at the manager, of course.

Proven in the sense CC proved he was a level above Championship level whilst we stayed in it.weasel wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2026 12:24 pm Not proven as there is no proof that having CC would have led to promotion. And therefore was probably fair if he was upset that DF froze him out, criticised him in public and picked a 30 odd year old Cooper over him

It was less the Cooper thing, more he didn't play over an injured Rodon who was struggling. One of the reasons given for our late season collapse

Or because people thought he was a talented player before the manager arrived and think it was a shame he was forced out for us as a club?weasel wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2026 5:45 pm It is curious how some of our fans coninually run down players who have given their all for the club over the least 3 years and fawn over players that have left or have rarely featured.

And refuse to believe the narrative he suddenly with 0 indication previously or since became an arrogant asshole given Farke praised his professionalism earlier in the season and only got the hump days after Richard Cresswell criticsed him in public
Discussing players isn't "running down" incidentally.
If everyone went "yep he's great" The forum would be very dull.

Re: Charlie Cresswell
Nope that doesn't prove that him staying here, even if he started every match, would have led to promotion - like I explained earlier. It may have done, it may not have done but it cannot be proven either way.

Re: Charlie Cresswell
We are lucky to have him and his wealth of knowledge. Maybe he knows a bit more about promotion than somebody who posts on a forum and hasn't been promoted as champions 3 times?

Similarly then it can't be proven either way that Farke was right with what he did.
Nor can it be proven Farke was right in what he said

Re: Charlie Cresswell
Perhaps.
In which case please apologise to Paul Heckingbottom, Jesse Marsch, Sam Allardyce and any other manager you have ever questioned in any way as they are infinitely more qualified than your good self.
Especially Neil Warnock as he has 8 promotions and makes Farke look a total novice.
And any player as they are much better footballers than your self.
In fact we should shut down the forum immediately as I doubt anyone here is qualified to do anything but agree with everything anyone in professional football does and the forum will get very dull very fast

Guessing you've neved seen Rodon play. He looks like he has gone 10 rounds with prime Mike Tyson nearly every game. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2026 6:15 pm It was less the Cooper thing, more he didn't play over an injured Rodon who was struggling. Re: Charlie Cresswell
I'm sure Farke thought he was talented but preferred more experienced players. Same as Millwall did when he went there on loan until injury gave them little chance but to play him. Some managers prefer experience, especially in defence.Cjay wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2026 6:16 pm Or because people thought he was a talented player before the manager arrived and think it was a shame he was forced out for us as a club?

Why would he have had an attitude prior to the point where it was mentioned. Prior to that point he was probably thinking he was going to get games and wasn't rocking the boat. As the season wore on it is only natural he got a bit disillusioned - and unofrtunately it might have been that he didn't handle it great, fair enough he is young and confident in his own ability. But having no indication of being unprofessional prior to being unprofessional is no indication that he wasn't unprofessional.
Discussing players is fine - it is just curious how often 'certain posters' run down players who play for us and sing the praises of those that don't.

By jove I think you have grasped it.
Now if you apply the same logic to your second sentence - it can't be proven wrong either.

Re: Charlie Cresswell
Interestingly all amangers that are pretty good at doing what they do, except maybe Marsch. Similar to Farke they are good at getting promotions and deserve a lot of credit. I didn't rate PH when he was with us. Felt Barnsley were in freefall with him and then we hired him and similarly we were in freefall with him. Maybe if he'd been given the opportunity to build a journeyman team with us he could have succeeded. Maybe him getting sacked here gave him the slap in the face he needed as he has done well since. I do feel his decision to continually wear a top with a red Leeds badge was deliberately antagonistic though.Cjay wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2026 7:27 pm Perhaps.

If Farke demands total obedience with 0 dissenting voices in his dressing room ever and just a yes sir no sir vibe he will struggle at the top level as we progress.weasel wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2026 7:39 pm I'm sure Farke thought he was talented but preferred more experienced players. Bigger money players have bigger egos and are not likely to be subservient as much as he is used to.
If all it takes is a player questioning his decisions for him to freeze them out then that could become an issue.
Imo as said before this is something he could have handled very differently.
And in the future he very well may need to.
