To add to the discussion, I don't think we need Charles, but a thought crossed my mind in that what if Ampadu has been told during his recent contract negotiation that he can go next year if a big offer comes in? Perhaps looking ahead and having Charles learn from Ampadu over a season isn't such a bad thing. Nothing more than a hunch and a discussion item mind.

I'm getting more the Che Adams vibes. Same club, and we spent a whole window getting the run around on him to end up not getting him (for better or worse).

I honestly don't get the obsession.

He's not better than:
Amps
Stach
Tanaka
Gruev
Longstaff

Too expensive for a position we don't need. It seems to be a gamble based on him potentially being worth £100m, which likely won't happen.

Not interested at all in Shea Charles at this price, I’d expect by the end of the summer he’s gone to another club for 15 - 20 million once Southampton lose their nerve
