Re: Summer transfer gossip and squad discussion
It says to me gone on way to long with Darlow and he want out,I would probably say to him answer by the end of the week and move on .
I am not sure I would want him to stay at mo if he has taken this long to sign a new contract gone from liking the guy to disliking the guy ,just sign or say u want out simple really.

Not saying you’re wrong, but why switch from something that was so successful after the Man City game (or even second half of the Man City game)

That then raises the question of Dan James. He goes down the pecking order as, accepting that he's suffered with injuries, he still has not proved that he is a Premier League level player with LUFC. Jury remains out and time is rapiddly marching on. Maybe if a decent offer comes in he should be let go.PhoenixUnited wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2026 8:29 am Not for me. He'd be the Aaronson replacement. If the American is still around he'd be the sub that comes on for the last 15 minutes or so to bring on energy.

A fit James offers a lot, he's our quickest player by a distance, he can get to the by line and create havoc and is good finisher.

It is a fear, based on the players we are chasing and DF's own preference.
But as you say it makes no sense to change.
I'm hoping for maybe a 3-4-2-1.
It would suit the players, we keep the back 3, DF gets the double pivot he likes and everyone is happy.

I would imagine that Darlow is holding out to see whether he'd likely be first choice or back-up. IF we sign a new keeper than you'd expect it to be as a starter so likely Darlow would look elsewhere to see if he could be a starter, or if he is happy being a bench player to see what other, potentially better, offers he could get. For me I have no problem with him delaying his decision until he knows what the club is planning to do.Johnsie123 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2026 8:48 am It says to me gone on way to long with Darlow and he want out,I would probably say to him answer by the end of the week and move on .

Re: Summer transfer gossip and squad discussion
Not me, that's a back three with the two wing backs counting toward midfield and I'm assuming 2 wingers and a forward. Stach isn't a pivot player so he gets left out. Especially if we buy this DMF we seem to be after... (Charles or the guy from Parma or AN Other)Cjay wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2026 9:45 am Was being cheeky![]()

Adam's selection thing doesn't have a 3-4-2-1 listed

Though we did see in the Liverpool home game, Brentford and Sunderland away games that being able to switch back to 4 at the back made us better in those games. As such I would have thought the plan was to have at least two ways of playing once again rather than being wedded to just one system which will be worked out quickly by oppositon teams.Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2026 9:28 am Not saying you’re wrong, but why switch from something that was so successful after the Man City game (or even second half of the Man City game)

The two wing backs, Bijol as sweeper. Rodon plus one. Ampadu in front, Stach, Tanaka or new player in midfield. Wilson playing off DCL
with the players we have atm

Club need to tell Darlow to sign this week or on yer bike.weasel wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2026 9:57 am I would imagine that Darlow is holding out to see whether he'd likely be first choice or back-up. Leeds need a great summer 2026 with outgoings and incoming players

Dan is just far too inconsistent. Good squad player, someone to bring on towards the end of games, similar to what some fans think about B.A. throw them on when we need to harry and harass a team that's tired and we have them under pressure.PhoenixUnited wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2026 9:35 am That then raises the question of Dan James. For me Dan is another version on Jack Harrison, has some quality about him and now and then he can produce it, but we need better.

I get that, being able to switch between formations during a game is obviously an advantage.weasel wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2026 10:00 am Though we did see in the Liverpool home game, Brentford and Sunderland away games that being able to switch back to 4 at the back made us better in those games. But to start off, moving away from a formation that served us so well during the second half of the season doesn’t make sense, to me anyway.

Comparing Dan James to Jack ( I'm off after relegation) Harrison is very harsh imo.GreennWhite wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2026 12:12 pm Dan is just far too inconsistent. Re: Summer transfer gossip and squad discussion
About to complete signing at Scum - Athletic.
Manchester United are close to completing the signing of goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a free transfer.
There are still finer points to sort but United are in advanced stages of bringing Darlow to the club. Senne Lammens needs support this coming season, with Altay Bayindir expected to leave.
The Athletic reported last month that United were weighing up a move for Darlow, 35, who is a free agent this summer after his Leeds United contract expired. He joins a small list of players who have traded Elland Road for Old Trafford, including Rio Ferdinand, Gordon McQueen, and Alan Smith.
Everton also explored a move for Darlow, a 15-time Wales international. Another option for United was Sam Johnstone, who has two years remaining on his contract at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Johnstone, 33, started his career at United’s academy.
United have wanted an experienced goalkeeper, ideally with Premier League pedigree and qualifying as homegrown, to help bring on Lammens and rotate as required with the club in the Champions League next season.
Darlow dislodged summer signing Lucas Perri as Leeds’ first-choice goalkeeper in the 2025-26 campaign, starting every game from mid-January to the end of the season.
Leeds only suffered four defeats in that 17-match run, as Daniel Farke’s side retained their Premier League status with a 14th-place finish.

Scum obviously realise Darlow is a decent keeper.
With Meslier gone, there must be a imminent replacement on the way.

But he won't play. This is just for homegrown numbers. Guess they must've given him a huge payday if he would rather that than play as a number one.
