I won’t ever forget that game

Granted, I’m pushing 70 so “ever” isn’t a very long time, but still….

I've seen England beat all the top sides in friendlies over the years, but the facts remain that they can't do it for real when the pressure's on, regardless of whose in charge.

Now doubt the overhyping about it coming home in 2028 will start in 3,2,1...
No it's not. Friendly is a game without context. This is a world cup competitive game that will see England written into third place. Your wrong, you can't win his one as I've already said you can call it meaningless but it 100% not a friendly...

Media and Tuchel interview is embarrassing , a world cup friendly with nothing on the line and treating it like it means something

Is it just a coincidence that England wins something … and Kane doesn’t play?🤷‍♂️🤔

Damn right. :)

I really miss when Brazil, and the Netherlands, were good and full of flair. Now they're just boring, full of pace and strength merchants. I blame the PL haha.

If Ronaldinho can come back at 46, Ronnie can at nearly 50.

Sometimes big name players can be a hindering factor maybe?

Especially if they don't perform in big games :duno:

He is amazing Ronaldo.

When you consider he never actually got to play at his absolute peak because of injuries after his early 20s.

And he still won the FIFA World Player of the Year and the Ballon d'Or after it.

One of the great what if players in football imo.

How good could he have been?

Maradona himself said he was the greatest number 9 in history and would have been the greatest ever, not exactly known for his modesty Diego so says a lot.

I guess they're trying to make it like the Olympics with the bronze medal etc. It just used to be called the third place play-off before.

Yes, broke my heart when he did his knee for Inter in 1999. 💔 Then in 2002 when he was fat and passed his peak, he still carried them to the title. I still remember his hat trick v scum at Old Toilet in the Champions League too.

But 1996-1999 Ronaldo was unplayable and magnetic to watch. The first time I'd heard of him was Brazil v Scotland in 1998 (pre internet days haha) and became immediately obsessed after that. :)

If you've not seen it, you should watch The Phenomenon documentary.

Like SO MANY great Brazilian players....careers cut short through injury or poor choices. :(

....and to a heck of a lot of England fans who were bothered to spend money and take time to actually go out and watch England in the World cup. Well done to those supporters! You got to see a great game of football.

Some of the players looked a bit embarrassed by it I thought.

I'm not a Kane fan, the original Kane denier if you will. When he retires it will be addition by subtraction

Really? I've had my Yahoo email since 1996 (still use it daily). I discovered (and started using) the internet in 96. It was much better back then (before they let any old riff-raff use it)

In fact, it was better back then: before the govts/systems/CIA etc started using it to control the people  We had a good 6-7 years of freedom online in the early days!

Did you know: the internet was first up and running in the 50's (basic as) but was commonly used in the 60's/70's (between colleges/universities in the US. It was only in the 90's that tech caught up enough for it to become affordable (and usable( to us common folk?

I remember pub club football scorelines of 4-6.

Seems like the Americans have finally got what they have always wanted, more goals in the game of soccer.

Wouldn't be surprised if Donald Trump had a hand in it.
