Maybe time to take her in or for a care home...whiteswan wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2026 11:54 am We've installed indoor camera's at Mr Swans Mum's house. She is 90 and has had several falls. There is a camera in the sitting room also taking in the stair lift, a camera on the landing and a camera in the downstairs hall.
Example. A few weeks ago Mr Swan checked on her before he went to bed at 11.50pm. No sign of her in the sitting room and the stair lift was downstairs. The kitchen door was shut which it never is (wedged open for easy access with her walking frame.) There was no option but to drive 10 miles at midnight to check on her. She was wedged behind the kitchen door, her head cut open from hitting the cupboard handles. No choice but to call the ambulance as we couldn't get her up off the floor. She was in hospital for ten days....now at home. The kitchen door has been removed!!
On Sunday her personal alarm went off....we looked at the cameras, the stairlift was upstairs. The bedroom door was shut. We could hear her banging her walking stick on the floor...... The door had closed, she had tried to open it whilst holding on to her walking frame and toppled backwards. This time we managed to get her up - no damage done. The bedroom door will now be removed.
So the indoor cameras are a necessity to us, giving us peace of mind (and his Mum)....

Oh I agree.....its not a great situation. But it's not that simple. Other family members are involved (and with the cameras) and what does his Mum want. We are just doing what we can at the moment.
I do think it will happen sooner rather than later though faaip.

I have read that in a high-profile investigation the police would typically combine ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) data from major routes into and out of Dartmoor with CCTV from nearby towns and villages, private security cameras, and any available dashcam footage to reconstruct vehicle movements not local to the area.
It is no surprise that footage from a Ring doorbell cam has been shown of Joshua Kerry getting into a red car time stamped I suppose so calculation could be made if he could get from Yorkshire to Devon to be there at the time of the attack.
You might not want your privacy interfered with in your own home but you are being constantly surveyed in public like it or not.
Big brother is watching.

More CCTV than any other country in the UK. Towards the end of my working life i took a job as a Domestic heating engineer. One day i walked in for a meeting and a co worker was asked if he had knocked at a certain house.
We all knew this house it stank like s..t and sweaty cheese ,my colleague replied yes of course i did ! he was then shown a video of him hiding behind a hedge and sliding a sorry we missed you card through the letter box.

12 years for us almost consecutively, both had vascular which means they always recognized us but were really abusive. My dad called his lovely neice a whore and a slut when she was 14.. My sister and Brother in law got a lot of abuse too. I didn't but I think they knew I wouldn't react.airedale wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2026 2:57 pm To all you carers you have my sympathy my dad had dementia and he begged not to go in a home ,me and the wife got by for 5 years before he could not even recognise us .

My dad actually got a letter saying if he landed in Malaysia/ Singapore again he'd be arrested, his dementia from a stroke did strange things to his brain

I could AI it for you if you like Swannie, like I did Lord Southwold.
You could make it up into a poster, and put it on your bedroom wall.
