Re: Nico Elvedi - Talks Progressing
Reported as done. Rumour he was seen at ER today?? Click bait, likely.
Total about 8million. 3 year deal.
Sell on 15% which likely isnt a big deal if he stays to end of his contract - he'll be almost 34 by then.
He's Gladbach's captain and has played over 300 Bundesliga games and has played right across the back line. He was captain when DF was coach there too. No doubt Farke wanted him.
Seb can now complete his deal with Hamburg. Wish him all the best.
But it would seem we have brought in a step up in quality over Seb as Tarik seems to be over Pascal.

It is not done and won't be until he has had his medical on Monday. I think I've just read the same BS AI article that you have...malcolmw wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2026 7:22 pm Reported as done. Rumour he was seen at ER today?? Click bait, likely.

Farke afteer the game...
Farke acknowledges he has to be careful on Elvedi comments, but doesn't want to lie. Says there is something close with him and Bornauw on the way out. Should be a resolution in the next 24 to 48 hours.

I think he's coming, just a surprise move considering other needs and who is he replacing?

I believe we have a list of potential signings, and when they become available Marathe & Co jump in, even though we are well covered in certain positions. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2026 9:01 am I think he's coming, just a surprise move considering other needs and who is he replacing?

Is he right footed?
Rodon is slowly but surely becoming a right sided wing back and is competition for Bogle so he may fit in for Joe.

Wow, what does Gnonto have to do
We're converting you to right wing back Willy but you'll be behind Bogle and Justin... oh wait we might also convert Rodon and as he has seniority I'm afraid you're down to number 4..
Are you any good in goal?

Re: Nico Elvedi - Talks Progressing
Yes.
There’s no finer sight than Joe rampaging down the wing and he puts some lovely passes into the box but I’m not sure if he has the pace to get back into position quickly enough. Gnonto had a really good second half v Manure & that gives us another option but we’re still looking short on our left side of defence.

Rodon dropped back into his centre-back position when required yesterday.CUSSIE01 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2026 10:21 am Yes.

Two defensive headers, a defensive clearance & one important block plus two crunching tackles in midfield.

Re: Nico Elvedi - Talks Progressing
Yesterday he could, as we started three in the middle and the German side offered very little

Was thinking that this morning, He's had a bit of practice scuttling down the wing recently.
Certainly would strengthen our defense a bit.

He's faster than Bogle, isn't he ?CUSSIE01 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2026 10:21 am Yes.

Re: Nico Elvedi - Talks Progressing
They are not converting Rodon to be a right back. They are simply making it so that we can keep selecting 5 at the back but not lose our ability to go forward by being outnumbered. Playing 3 centre backs will usually mean 3 v 1 centre forward so when we have possession it gives us license to have one join in with play.
The alternative is switching to a back 4 but I think it suits us more to have a centre back who has license to join the attack rather than expecting a winger to come back and be a defender.

Re: Nico Elvedi - Talks Progressing
Rodon is not being trained as a RWB/Winger!!! He’s our only pacey CB for starters.
So I’m not sure I understand where Elvedi fits
Does it mean Bijol/Rodon is dropped down to #4 of a 3? I’m not sure I like how this is panning out…
