You'd think being back up at a club where he's well settled and where his wife plays for Frankfurt ( a top flight side with multiple championships) is preferable to upping sticks, leaving the missus behind and backing up a world class goalkeeper and hoping for scraps

However we must not forget the personal side and Zetterer was very emotional when he left Bremen to join Frankfurt a year ago so leaving Germany completely is obviously a huge thing for him. Players aren't just robots, he has a young family and was probably happy in Frankfurt.

Definitely sounds like he's reluctant to come. A red flag if ever there was one. But if he never asked to leave and Frankfurt are forcing him out, you can't blame him really.

Don't blame the player at all, his right to not want to come.

Just don't understand why we are so bothered.

This does seem nuts. Wouldn’t pay Darlow an extra mill to stay. Don’t want to keep Perri, a decent backup and instead spend 3 weeks and 5 million chasing a backup keeper who doesn’t want to come.
At least the recruiters didn’t have to waste their time trying to sign a 9 or 10.

Am guessing he ticks a lot of the boxes in terms of what we want from a keeper, albeit a backup keeper. It may even be, despite his age, a bit of future proofing in case Trafford has a great season and we get a ridiculously good bid for him.

Hard to really tell how good he is. Supposedly good with his feet which is something we like and despite what AI suggests he seemed a decent keeper, in terms of the bread and butter stuff, on the youtube clips (albeit it is likely to show his best moments).

I think Farke is right to call time on Perri. I just don't see a stable keeper there in terms of doing the basics right. Then you also factor in the poor kicking (albeit he has a good throw). Sometimes better to admit a mistake and move on rather than to compound the error by persevering with it and hoping it will turn out good.

Consensus is the only difference between that and this bloke is his kicking may be a bit better.

Feel sorry for Perri myself, do think is a good player in him given time (which he wasn't given).

Basically forced out by Frankfurt and we threw him a few extra £ to convince him.

Must be the worst kind of career move for a professional footballer, with outfield players, if you are versatile, you may get a chance
playing not in chosen position, but with a backup goalkeeper you know that you may get a chance during the cup runs and that's about all unless an injury occurs. Out of the player positions, backup goalkeeper is the one that is a bit sole destroying imo. Darlow was fortunate and made the transition for reason we know, but to oust Trafford you'll need a miracle.

Who would WANT to be here knowing that Trafford will be the starting Keeper barring injury? I would say NOBODY would want that. Unless they are an aging, former starter, that's willing to be a mentor and compete hard in training. And of course, collect a fat Premier League paycheck.

He had a bad couple of games! Who's narrative are you following? Every goalkeeper on the planet has errors in him. Perri is not a crap goalkeeper because he made mistakes. Apparantly, he is a bad goalkeeper because he made a couple of mistakes, Darlow came in, did brilliantly and now, magically, most remember Perri for being awful! Funny how that works.

Perri was awful saving 2 penaties in the cup game he played right? And if I remember rightly: he has kept us in games more than once. We paid £16m for him and I would wager, we watched and watched him before doing so then paid double his market value to get him here. He is not a crap goalkeeper who needs to learn: he is unlucky we had Darlow at the time he made a couple of errorsd and then it went bad for him. It's best for all concerned that he leaves. But we are the ones who paid £16m for an £8m goalkeeper that didn't work out...
