I think we were looking at opportunities to sign offensive players with no transfer fee. Which limited the market. But both Brandt and Mudryk fit the profile. And of course we were able to sign Harry Wilson on a free.

I know a lot of supporters want everything now. But the strategy was clearly to get an elite Goalkeeper, and to strengthen the Defense. Which we were able to do. So I'm pretty happy with the transfer window even if we don't make another signing. Although I think we will probably get at least one more. But the squad is absolutely better than what we brought to the Premier League last season.
The club told Beren this

We haven't done that.

Simon Jones who we know the owners speak with said similar.

We've gone from majority of investment in attack and difference makers to 1 player and less strikers.

Makes no sense.

And Farke doesn't seem happy hence the squad depth dig ... Are we stronger in defence?

Rodon, Bijol, Struijk, Bornauw, Justin, Gudds, Bogle

v

Rodon, Bijol, Muha, Elvedi, Justin, Gudds, Bogle

We're weaker up front if Gnonto leaves, about level if he doesn't.

We did get a lot better at Goalkeeper but it cost 55M plus

You can go ahead and hang your hat on that as if it was written in stone. It fits your narrative. But reporters need to fill column inches. And the business that was actually conducted doesn't back it up.

It literally comes from the club.

Where do you think the Leeds United reporter for The Athletic gets his information

This was quoted by the reporter at the beginning of the window. There's a word you might not have heard of. It's SUBTERFUGE. It means "a deceptive strategy, or dishonest device used to achieve a goal, evade a rule, or to hide something".

So the club lied to Beren about that article and had no intention of doing what they told him.

Also lied to the Daily Mail who we know they speak to as they reported striker, attacking midfielder and extra defensive cover were the priority after Trafford.

It's an interesting theory you have but an illogical one.

More likely they just struggled to get the priority filled rather than some great deception with a greater purpose us mortals can't understand :roflmao:

Chelsea wanted guarenteed minutes. Leeds told them to pound sand, but Spurs have started so badly they went back and said they'd have him playing 2 positions at once, so double minutes.
Brilliant strategy.

Lying is a bit strong in this context. I would say they took the liberty of bullshitting the media. A little misdirection to throw the other clubs off. It's a common tactic...

He never wanted to come to Leeds, probably thinks he’s better than he is & hopefully Spuds find that out sharpish. Move on.

So far look a lot stronger in defence. Would take Tarik and Elvedi over Struijk and Bornauw every day of the week.

Up front I feel we are similar, possible stronger. We have Wilson in and Piroe out. So probably better rounded in terms of that. Gnonto may go out but Dan James looks fit so we potentially have gained Dan James's availability in comparison to last season. I'd take Dan James over Gnonto any day of the week.

So for me stronger in defence, stronger in attack and stonger in keeping. Midfield as you were.

Option to buy at £75m is way more than what we would be willing to pay anyway. Even if the price was say £50m would we be likely to want to pay that? Spurs have the money. Possibly Spurs offered Chelsea money to get the clause in etc.

Are you completely naive?

I would imagine the club would know we wanted a specific positions as soon as we asked about the player so lying to the press makes no sense

Someone's is an awkward mood today
