Re: Brighton vs Leeds United - Match Thread
Great work by the BBC. Nearly 8 minutes highlights for MoTD and they don't show Stach's chance, which was at a crucial point of the match, or Nmecha's late chance to win it. Fair enough there were a lot of chances in the match but those were key chances.
They did well to make it look like Brighton dominated - didn't show Justin's shot at the keeper, Okafor getting through but then fluffing his lines or the DCL chance where he was given offside (when he curled it round the keeper buy wide) which I think may have actually been onside but as he missed it didn't go to VAR after the linesman put his flag up.
Interestingly the 'highlights' of Forest and Spurs's 0-0 draw lasted longer.

This is a mental thing for sure. Brentford and BHA are at the point of believing they are EPL clubs and that the results just determine whether they qualify for European football or not. So they play with freedom. We are still at the stage where we treat each point as a vital step closer to avoiding relegation. This is why we play nervously when it looks like we could drop points.WhiteRose wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2026 4:16 pm We don’t look quite good enough with the ball to me, teams like Brentford and Brighton in the second half today pass the ball around much better and with more purpose than we seem capable of - under pressure we get even worse with us barely able to string a pass together. Maybe it’s just early season jitters but we can and should be better.

I thought MOTD scheduled for 10.30.

They show highlights from their website from 8pm. Supposedly what they show later but minus the pundit discussion. Bizarrely showed the Stach chance on the MoTD program so I checked back, thinking I had made a rare mistake, but definitely wasn't on the 7m 48s highlights - just went straight into 2nd half and the Tanaka offside goal. Very strange - would have presumed it would have been the same especially as it had the same annoying commentator (Jonathan Pearce) on both sets of highlights.

Just think how quiet this forum would be if they hadn't.
Any thoughts about the game or were you too busy waxing your crack to watch the match?

I would miss you terribly. And I mean that moist sincerely.
I was on the golf course yesterday bashing a ball in the wrong direction so only kept up with the score however the MOTD highlights were most enlightening.
Almost like watching live…

I’m probably been a bit too negative- we are getting results, havnt lost yet and look hard to beat - i guess the way we played last season is the new norm and the transfer window backed that up - we need to get Wilson in the team though, he’s not gonna get in to his best form off the bench.Aussieleeds wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2026 8:48 pm This is a mental thing for sure. No it didn't, not putting our chances away cost us the game. Score those chances then we win this game with ease and it wouldn't have mattered what subs we brought on, we would have coped much better.
As it was they got a foot hold and some confidence in the game and had us on the back foot. There is a big difference in being forced back, and sitting back.

Your correct about where both of those clubs are, compared to ours. We are still trying to find our way in this league. Second season is always harder than the first so it going to take time. Progression, season by season is the name of the game. Problem is some fans want us playing every team of the park every game, and want us in the top 6 from the start.Aussieleeds wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2026 8:48 pm This is a mental thing for sure. That's it, the reason why Leeds don't play free flowing attacking football is because this squad isn't designed to play free flowing attacking football.GreennWhite wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2026 11:35 am Your correct about where both of those clubs are, compared to ours. Game circumstances often dictate how the play goes. Brighton got let off, time and time again, and then start taking more risks as it isn't like they will just sit back and accept a 1-0 defeat. Last week showed that with them pulling goals back against Chelsea.GreennWhite wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2026 11:24 am No it didn't, not putting our chances away cost us the game. I certainly don't think our subs were introduced to protect a lead, otherwise it is likely Bijol on and simply an extra defender rather than taking a defender off.
Like you say it isn't like we will dominate a team for 90 minutes and canter to a win. All teams in the division have the ability to get on tops at points in matches - heck Coventry had more devent chances against City than Brighton had v us.

Re: Brighton vs Leeds United - Match Thread
I think a lot depends also on how other teams set up and play against us. We saw with Forest that they were set up with 5 at the back and to a large degree we cancelled each other out. Brighton are quite open so it was always likely they would create chances - last season we created very little in response against them so yesterday was a marked improvement.

No one here thinks we'll finish top 6.... but we do have some that don't understand context and nuance

I've no clue where we finish. Too many variables this early in the season.... Doesn't stop me proffering analysis and opinion thoughJohn in Louisiana wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2026 5:01 pm I think we'll finish top 6, but I also don't understand either context or nuance.
