I see that some schools in Middlesbrough are to close early so that pupils can "honour" one of the louts who killed the policemen on the A66 at his funeral today.

I think the majority of those closing are due to concerns over traffic congestion & pupil safety if things kick off rather than pupils attending Tom at least I hope that’s the case.

Doctors Have You Actually Seen One?

Post by Musicman1965 »

So frustrating in England to get to sit down with the Doctor, I am not going into the actual medical problem, but so far I have seen 5 receptionists, 4 technical assistants and 3 nurses and 7 weeks later still no sign of actually seeing anyone with a degree in medicine. What is happening in the UK where the actual Doctor patient time is limited to a chat on the phone to find out if you are OK. Has anyone experienced this?

Some time ago I went to see my GP with a bad back and was given painkillers. After a couple of weeks I went back to the GP's, saw another doctor and was given stronger painkillers. To cut a long storey short I saw three GP's, two Physios and a chiropractor, all of which suggested more painkillers. Eventually I put my hand in my pocket and wet to see a specialist at The Nuffield. He sent me for a scan when it was obvious that I had a slipped disc. Not one of the other six medics even suggested that. If there is something wrong with you go to see a man who specialises in the type of problem you have.

Yes, since covid GP's have been able to insulate themselves from the general public... I have to use an app which 9 times out of 10 tells me to get to a hospital soon as I'm dying from this earache or stomachache...

I've seen a phlebotomist 4 times recently, a clinical pharmacist 6 times but no chance at seeing a GP.

I was going to write the very same message today Bon, I pay a contribution each season to avoid ads & end up linked to a betting site after each log in. 😡😡

Try the Brave Browser. I didn't deliberately install Brave for this purpose, I did it for other sites and it happened to be a bonus for this forum.

Same here, Bon……the betting/casino one that has a banner across the whole of the bottom of the page……it’s blo*dy annoying. It opens up without you realising and when updating one of the comp threads the other day, having done all the changes, pressed submit and just lost the lot because of the betting/casino tab being open, so had to start again. The air was blue  I now have to remember to copy before pressing submit in case the same thing happens.

Aaah, the good old days. Watching a Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground you were limited to taking in a carton of beer per person. That’s 9 litres of beer or 15 pints!!!

These days you have to buy it all inside in plastic cups. The equivalent amount of beer (they only sell mid-strength) will cost you around $AUD290 or £155.

Same as at headingley on a regular basis with either Yorkshire or England, a coach load or mini-bus of us would rock up and the stewards thought we were actually delivering alcohol for the ground we had that much.
