James came on as a wing back, which he isn't. It means he sits deeper and can't get behind defences so easily...We were a positional mess by the end of the game...

I'm still unconvinced our first five fixtures were easier.

I'm not sure that was true. He seemed much more forwarda nd playing as a right winger when he came on. Most of his involvements were in that attacking far right corner of the field.

I may be wrong but I thought we went to a back 4 when James came on

Four of his five moments were in the attacking half, Andrew.

Our best moments of the game

Offensive

Trafford pass > Muharemovic pass > Ampadu pass > Elvedi run & pass > Bogle run > Justin cross > Calvert-Lewin shot saved.

Would have been a wonderful goal in a dour match.

Defensive

Muharemovic - goal-saving block (first-half).

Trafford - excellent save from a curled shot round our wall.

Muharemovic - Goal saving challenge. (second-half)

Ampadu - Impeccable tackle in the six yard box preventing an attacker having a free shot on goal. (second-half)

Justin - Great interception & defensive clearance when he was off balance in our box. (second-half)

All three of those brilliant second-half defensive actions were in the final 15 minutes

How many warnings did we need in the first ten minutes of the second-half before we almost conceded with their offside goal?

New referee on the block was very poor.

Yet another one who likes the look of himself. I felt at times the game was all about him.

He got five or six decisions incorrect.

TBH I can't think of a single referee in the Premiership that I think I'm comfortable officiating our games. Yes they are human beings and as such will make mistakes and it is a bloody difficult job that they do. Nevertheless, but so often I sit wondering what they see or what they were looking at when they decide things.
