Is it a wine or a white board cleaner?

Re: The Wine Thread
There was a retsina made by Domestica back in the day otherwise known as Domestos. Battery acid.
Tbh Greek wine is very good these days. Some world class wines red & white.

Re: The Wine Thread
Enjoying a cheeky 2016 Vina Real Reserva which was about £18 a couple of years ago. My favourite vintage of this wine is the 2010 but as it's now £40 a bottle that ship has now sailed for what is essentially a nice easy drinking red.
Latest release is the 2019 so I bought 24 bottles of that for £16 a bottle.
Back to rose wine discussed earlier I have bottle of the Tondania Gran Reserva Rosada 2012 but I'm reluctant to open it for a few years yet.
For the record I never drink the whole bottle in one night as Mrs Jammy doesn't drink so they usually last me 2 or 3 nights. Our son likes a nice glass of red but it seems I've created a bit of a monster as he only likes the decent stuff.

Never had the rosado from Tondonia but The Wine Society stock a similar one from Lopez de Haro.
Very singular rose.

Re: The Wine Thread
I've been watching my alcohol intake and doing the same. Trying these out to better preserve the wine over the course of 3 days. Never had much luck with vacu-vin and the coravin system looks too complicated and expensive. Will report back!Jammy 07 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2026 7:58 pm Enjoying a cheeky 2016 Vina Real Reserva which was about £18 a couple of years ago. Re: The Wine Thread
Initial results-
Day 1- Fresh. 1 glass.
Day 2- Essentially unchanged from day 1. Probably a tad more open and even better. 2 glasses.
Day 3- Skipped- had dinner with family and we opened a Napa Cab. Paired well with grilled burgers
Day 4- Still really good/ drinkable. Some oxidative notes. 1 glass.
Day 5 (today)- Down the drain. Had turned. (Just one glass left)
This was with one repour stopper. Wine sat on the kitchen counter throughout. I'm sure it would have done even better if kept in the fridge, but I wanted to see how it did without refridgeration. I was impressed with it overall. Wish I would have tasted on Day 3- as that is often the day I'm finishing a bottle. I'd imagine it would have been closer to Day 1/2. Trying it next on a 2022 Sonoma Pinot. Will be interesting to see how it perfoms with a younger/fresher wine compared to an aged Rioja.

How did it work with the Pinot?

Re: The Wine Thread
Palomino from SA. Ancient vines and not many left as they were generally ripped out in favour of other more popular European varieties.
Synonymous with Jerez & sherry of course but the Vino De Pasto (unfortified) style is my go to white atm.
And this is a brilliant version.
Like honey laced with lemon oil. Wine ponce
Not sweet though.

Re: The Wine Thread
Top is a Spanish Brisat or orange wine.
White grapes fermented with their skins for an extended period. Not from oranges!
Lovely stuff. Wife was particularly fond of this.
Reminded me of Gewurtztraminer.
Bottom another superb Vino de Pasto.
Palomino aged in tinaja or clay jar.
Correction its the other Jerez grape PX.
But a dry version.

Re: The Wine Thread
Yes I agree. Actually bought a Spanish wine that was considerably less than anywhere else but generally overpriced. I just wanted to see some of the worlds “best” wines. It’s certainly worth a look round but there is a mega store in Paris that makes it look pedestrian.

If it hasn’t been mentioned already, Morrisons has its 25% off six offer on, if you have a More card you can also get further reductions on individual bottles e.g. £13 down to £7 as well. I have stocked up with some better than usual stuff for the Season and champagne at better than half price.

Re: The Wine Thread

Went a little over my budget on this (I try to keep things around $15 and this was on sale for $22), but I am glad I did. Superb.
