Haggling is standard isn't it? Only Ridsdale habitually offered players three times what they were hoping for.Boynton wrote:just read that leeds are haggling with nunez over his wage demands!

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS THREAD
My vigil - awaiting our 10th transfer (a/k/a The Big One) - appears to be an exercise in futility. As the transfer window begins to close, our ambitions of competing for a playoff position seem to fade in direct proportion.
Actually, I believe that Simon told it straight when he said these final days were going to be a massive waiting game, with clubs and players alike jockeying for position, trying to leverage every rumour to their best advantage. We may not see any real activity until the final 2-3 days.

Ambition to compete for a playoff position? All though i wish Leeds to get ack in to the Prem as soon as possible, but getting promotion this season iof poss isnt wise, we will only come back down the following year and be humiliated when we do return!PaulUSA wrote:My vigil - awaiting our 10th transfer (a/k/a The Big One) - appears to be an exercise in futility. We are better of strenthining a team for the Champ and build a stronger team in the winter market and an even stronger team next market!
I wanna see Leeds bk in the prem as much as you, but to be whipping boys would be horrid! This would happen cus i cant see Bates splashing out on stars to keep us up if we did go up this season. Were probably beta of using our academy, which has proved positive in the past!

I don't care if we get promoted and come straight back down FFS! The parachute payments are worth it alone! Not to mention the gate receipts of a season in the prem!nickjett wrote: Ambition to compete for a playoff position? If we got relegated, WE would be the championship club with cash to splash, to get us up again right away, with top class players this time, to consolidate in the Prem again.
Humiliated? What? Like more than spending 3 seasons in the 3rd division?...no bigger humiliation than THAT!

I think he will see Watt and Gradel as striking options, and Billy Paynter isnt that far away... so those 3, along with Becchio and our new hero Somma...
I cant see why we need another striker just yet...

Leeds Lead McCormack Chase

I must admit, i do like the look of this one...Cardiff are thought to be willing to offload McCormack following the arrival of Craig Bellamy and the Scotland international is keen on a move away in search of regular first-team football.
McCormack has fallen down the pecking order at Cardiff despite scoring 23 goals in his debut season at the club following his arrival from Motherwell.
A number of clubs have expressed an interest in signing McCormack, but Leeds are hoping to lure the 24-year-old to Elland Road.
Leeds are understood have agreed a fee with Cardiff for McCormack as they look to bolster their attacking options before the close of the transfer window.
McCormack's agent, Willie McKay, has confirmed Leeds have been given permission to hold talks, but that other clubs are also in the race for the skilful forward's signature.
"We have been given permission to speak to Leeds as well as two other clubs about Ross," McKay told skysports.com.
"We will be holding talks with those clubs later this week."

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS THREAD
If we did bring in McCormack and Davenport, what would your starting XI be then?
Looks like SG is going to have major selection headaches (in a good way).

Just read this myself! It's very exciting news, the one bit that puzzles me though is where it says 'Leeds are understood to have agreed a fee...' A FEE!Silky wrote:Leeds Lead McCormack Chase

The word 'FEE' is quite close to the word 'FREE' and our chairman doesn't really have 20/20 vision.

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS THREAD
Having options is a good thing. We have Becchio, Paynter and Somma who are natural strikers. Grella will go out on loan. Watt and Gradel are wingers first, strikers second. So having a fourth striker, and one who can play out wide would be extremely useful indeed. Plus he's a proven goal scorer at this level who was only displaced last year at Cardiff by two more proven goal scorers at this level in Bothroyd and Chopra.Silky wrote:I think he will see Watt and Gradel as striking options, and Billy Paynter isnt that far away... so those 3, along with Becchio and our new hero Somma...

If we had McCormak we'd have a good chance of fighting for a top six slot. I guess without him we have that same chance, but I personally see us needing one more striker because Grella doesn't seem happy to sit on the bench any more with a bit part role. So we need four strikers, and we have four wingers. So its all about having depth. But Leeds agreeing a fee is shocking... this must be near a 7 figure type transfer.

Sed on LUTV, that he is having problems with getting a permit/visa amd missed a bit of training...so he'll be staying a while longer, as Simon hasn't finished assessing him yet. The gaffer must see something he likes? :thup:Jason123 wrote:What is happening with Nunez?
