what level are we actually at just now? or which teams in the premier league do you think we are currently better than..partly taking into account our efforts against prem opposition over last year or so..remember to factor in things like team spirit and direction etc..stuff that was sadly lacking in our last season in prem

Based strictly on the squad we have in place now I think we're on a level with the following teams -

Wolves, West Ham, Newcastle, Fulham, Wigan, Birmingham

I think we'd make a decent fist of staying up, but the current defects of the squad would be shown up by the stronger teams of the league.

Ok I agree player by player in terms of the squad. But there's so many other factors to consider that influence things, such as team spirit and support.

Thats why in one off cup games we have beat man u and drawn with arsenal and spurs.

Wouldn't swap our players for the likes of west hams squad.

I think some of you are running before you can walk, we not promoted yet & if we miss out i'm sure many of you will change your opinion, really think you are getting carried away on one performance where our players gave 120%, they couldn't sustain that level of performance every week. I'm concerned that our players will take their foot off the pedal v Scunny

Defensively we have been poor & our engine room is far too weak for the premiership

Howson, Snodgrass (lacks pace), Kasper & possibly O'Brien (if he doesn't do a Naylor on us) could handle the premiership

I think Becchio could also make the transition to the premiership . He seems a much better player now he isn't playing second fiddle to JB .

I'd say that if you placed us in the premier league, with our current squad - no additions - then I believe we would finish about 14th. I can't see us finishing top ten based on what we have right now, but I honestly feel we could stay up, and probably finish about there. However, if we were to win promotion, we'd probably have access to better players to improve our current team, and then we could probably push for a top ten like Reading, Ipswich and Wigan did in their first years in the prem.

I think we could stay up and thats it with the current squad. Add one or two quality signings and we could be a mid-table team. Long way to go yet though, Im positive about going up and like threads like this but next time we have a bad result Im sure everyone will be moaning and saying we aint good enough blah blah blah.

Personally I am Leeds through and through and believe in our boys. Give us 5 years or so and we will be challenging for the title and conquering Europe!

I'm with you... Howson, Snoddy, Kasper, and I think Ben Parker will come good... but to be perfectly honest, i dont expect us to be promoted.. i think we'll make the top 6 and get beat... dunno if it will be semi's or in the final, but play-offs arent our thing..

i think in stature we are bigger than a few teams in the premiership. the wigans and such are tinpot teams. player quality wise we would need quite a 6 or 7 to make us attempt a mid table finish i feel.

i don't mean to take anything away from our great result at arsenal on saturday but were we really that great? yes we gritted our teeth and a few dug in but it was'nt the great performance up there with say the liverpool cup match a year a go or even the man utd game in which at times we passed it better than on saturday.atleast in those two games we had good passages of play through-out the match where as against arsenal we were very limited going forward and offered little in central midfield.

at times on saturday our goal lead a charmed life and if i'd been an arsenal fan and leeds the enemy i would be very dissapointed we did'nt knock in around 3 goals with chances that were made.

tottenham last year at white hart lane.. we could and probably should have been 4 down after 30 minutes but we got away with it and snatched a draw...same in the replay at ER we took a right battering but very nearly snatched a late leveller through bromby before defoe raced clear to make it 3-1.

things are on the up though these last 12 months but it would take a few very good signings to even survive in the premiership.

as long as we keep making signings like o'brien and kasper and keep hold of the likes of becchio we'll be back in the premiership sooner rather than later.

You do realise Blackpool just go out and out for the win. That's why they got smashed at the Emirates and Stamford Bridge but they've also picked up quite a few wins.

Liverpool are just a poor team, pure and simple. Funny that people have moaned about the division being dominated by a couple of teams, then as soon as it balances out with more teams contending, people moan about it. This season is far better than Scum/Chelsea just smashing their way to the title. Blackpool have done brilliantly, and deserve to stay up. The definition of PL football. Entertainment.

I still believe it is...the level on the entire league is above the spanish, italian, german etc Spain may have the two best teams in the world atm but the rest of the league is useless.

Yes. That's the point of my post. Wigan v Birmingham isn't entertaining. Blackpool are though. PL football is supposed to be about entertainment and a few teams don't provide that one bit. Blackpool do though.

The Championship is brilliant in terms of entertainment. Criminal it isn't shown as much. Must be an average of 3 goals per game that Leeds take part in. Only problem is, is that in terms of progression, you can't go anywhere without going into the PL. Champions League mainly.
