VERY sad news

Fellow Leeds United fan and MOT Member PETER CASS lost his fight with cancer, after a long and brave fight.

Here is the message posted by his wife:

today PETER LOST HIS FIGHT FOR LIFE HE BATTLED HARD AND LONG AND HAD THE SUPPORT OF ALL WHO KNEW HIM FOR THAT I AM TRULY THANKFUL I LOVED HIM DEARLY AS DID HIS GIRLS HE WILL REMAIN IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER I AM SURE HE HAS FOUND A SOCCER GROUND IN HIS NEXT LIFE ALWAYS LOVED AND FOREVER MISSED. Oh my god. Such a sad loss. Great contributor to MOT over the years and he will be missed, as he has been already. Pete and I had some pretty good exchanges over the years, some of it quite heated, but we remained friends. My thoughts are with his family.

Just read this post from the guy:

"I searched the forum on cancer and there a number of fellow sufferers and questions on friends behalf. Just like to say that the development of cures/relief from certain cancers is going ahead gangbusters in most countries to some extent - just most "cancers" are different to each other (as someone said, saying "cancer" is like saying "fish" - plenty of varieties etc)

Having gone thru Stage 3 lung cancer and been told I have 1 year left (as of last Easter) we have dedicated ourselves to research and some "out of left field" actions. In our discoveries we have found a treatment in the UK that will kill Stage 1 lung cancer in 20 mins - seriously!!! (altho being detected with only Stage 1 is very remote/lucky, but they are working on it). Its amazing that breakthroughs and discoveries are happening all the time

And we found a new radiation treatment in the US (Boston for me) that we dont have here in Oz. And we were lucky enough to be accepted in their program, so we moved to Boston for 3 months treatment

And Im now pleased to say Im in remission - seriously!!. The clock starts now for 5 years till officially "cured"

However it has NOT been easy. Ignoring the financial impact, I have been in 11 hospitals, had three (000 or 911) calls for emergencies, had 7 operations, and been on life support for 8 days (where they didnt think Id come out of it), had 2 collapsed lobes in my lung, 3 pneumonias, and a partridge in a pear tree. Plus they had me on 20mg morphine continuously for 7 days and also the sedative that killed Michael Jackson!!!

To the folks on here that have cancer still, or friends and family, this isnt a gloat post, its a post A. to advise how Im going, and B. to demonstrate to NEVER EVER give up. I was on palliative care (where they make you comfortable as you "check out" for the last time) to remission and soon, after rehab, back to work (slowly slowly)

Never give up - enjoy what you have, and FIGHT EVERYTHING!!!!
