Happens every year around this time in February

Tonight i'm compering a quiz which i've been compiling since Xmas to raise funds for our Norman Grade 1 listed village church

Now some people on here maybe excellent speakers in front of an audience. I find the the build up to this experience & the prospect of standing up in front of 80 to 100 people totally daunting !

Once i've got the initial welcome ceremonies out of the way i'll be fine, right now i'm a dithering nervous wreck :doh:

Imagine everyone in their underwear mate. Apparently that works?... Just don't get drunk and swear like I did for my Dad's 50th. Can't remember what was said but alot of cursing apparently.

Ended with a Marching on together though. So saved myself in the end.....

I'm sure you'll do fine mate. :thup:

I'm absolutely terrible with public speaking too - terrifies me!

Fortunately I've never had a problem when playing in front of people for whatever reason, suppose we can hide behind the music!

I quite regularly have to lecture students or speak in front of colleagues.

I've never been comfortable with it.

I lost my stage fright in a baptism of fire. My band was to play at a rock festival in former Jugoslavia. We were told to expect around 2 or 3 thousand people in the football stadium. So we were a bit nervous, only having played pubs and clubs up til then.
We arrived and went straight into the dressing rooms, about ½ an hour before we were due to play. Never saw the arena, till we ran out on stage. We almost ran back in again! THIRTY THOUSAND were packed into the place!

Turns out the organisers had got the biggest Jugoslavian band at the time, right at the last minute. We crapped ussens, but after the first couple of numbers, we got right into the "stadium experience". Crowd liked us and the noise was incredible - almost couldn't hear our stage monitors.
After that, I was never nervous again in front of an audience.
