Why would they sack someone who only spent around 70mill on Carroll, Downing and Henderson,how else would you strengthen the mighty reds. Not that he wasted money was it.

I think it's just another case, for how money and rich owners are ruining the beautiful game of football.
How can you sack a man for getting to two cup finals and wining one.
It just proves how worth less the English cups have become. It just makes me so mad that the only important thing is to finish in the top four.
Don't get me wrong I like the champions league. But there's too much cash involved.
I think champions league should be for the league winners, or at most 2 nd place in the league .

Agreed, it is a shame that the cups mean so little, even to lesser teams, but Liverpool have been so poor in the leauge and after spending so much money he had to go, but the question is were they his signings? I thought the owners said they wanted young British players?

Poor appointment. Out of touch/out of date and now out of work. Shame but it always looked possible. The scouse season ticket holders I know didn't want him because they feared he would fail and because they didn't want to tarnish his record. If the owners overlook a 7 times promoted manager they need their head's examining.

Warnock would do a good job with Liverpool I reckon. At the big teams, with a diverse range of superstar footballers, you need someone who tells it like it is and isn't a pushover. I reckon all the Liverpool players respect the hell out of Daglish, but that doesn't mean you feel confident playing his tactics. Liverpool need to get someone like that in, not a gamble on an up and comer. If the Liverpool owners get Martinez in, as much as I rate him as a manager, it just shows that they are trigger happy at signing the latest trends. Carroll, Henderson, Downing...all signed on a whim.

I'd actually love to see them trying to get Moyes in. The controversy of him coming from Everton, and the fact he's billed as the most likely to succeed Fergie, would be interesting. I certainly think he'd do a good job with the money Liverpool could provide.

I'm still convinced that Ferguson has ear-marked Moyes as his successor.... why the hell else wouldn't he have got a bigger job by now?

TBH where do you go from Everton? Only clubs bigger [really] are the old big 3 + Chelsea and they have Fergie or want foreign coaches. He could get more money to spend elsewhere perhaps but Everton have pedigree.

True. It's quite an achievement to maintain that high position in the Premier League without huge investment and without making a fuss. Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool...they do need to start looking outside of England for managers...Scotland and Norn Iron.

Pound for pound, and I mean financially, Moyes has to be the best manager in the land. The results he gets from the extremely limited budget are impressive indeed.

On Dalglish, takes me back to when we appointed Billy Bremner and Allan Clarke (and to a lesser degree Eddie Gray) as manager. Sentimental move, not a hard-headed assessment. The owners have taken the right decision although a brave one, given the hate mail they are likely to receive now .
