Good news, though I'm not sure what the point of long term contracts in football is any more. Odds on he won't still be here in four years time.

Why would a young defender with so much promise sign a 4 year deal with LUFC? The guy is clearly mad.

Chances are that you're right, unfortunately. If Lees progresses the way many seem to expect I can see him being snatched by one of the big clubs in 2/3 years time. In the meantime though, the 4 year contract gives us two very important things.

1. It shows the lad wants to play for Leeds above anyone else who would take him at the moment.
2. It ensures that if he does move on the club will not be letting him walk for nothing a la Beckford etc.

He may well not see out his full term, but at least he is sending out positive signals to his teammates and the fans.

I'm also surprised that lees has signed for as long as 4 years. A specially when the club as show such little ambition when keeping x players ( MG and JH) and its lack of ambition when it comes to bring better players to the club???

I can only assume LUST convinced Lees to sign for the most important club in the Champs which pays top dollar.

make no mistake..... when it comes down to it, i want Bates out the door..... i didnt think there was any chance of it actually happening any time soon so it was stupid to waste time discussing it... but it seems he might actually be going... which makes me as happy as... larry.

for whatever reason, i dont care why, Bates presence has divided the club and its time for a change.

Also, he's getting too bloody old... he's outta touch...

his decision to appoint Warnock, his decision to sack Larry when he did, his approach towards the fans and the media.... i dont think he's the evil tyrant that others do, but i think he needs to go...

We have argued that we [the fans] are as much to blame as the chairman atm, but at the end of the day, he's the bloody chairman... it's up to him to be the leader and become the bigger man.... and he seems completely incapable of doing it... the relationship continues to get worse

pssst: he only divided the club because those who hate him made sure of it.

I used to travel to away games with a members club. On the bus they sang Bates Out from the day he arrived. They called that objective - I called it a reason to get back in my own car. Some of our fans choose to be divided in an attempt to unseat the old fella. Cost the club a lot of money. Good luck to yer and thanks for slowing down the recovery.

im happy to accept that. you could be 100% correct.

fact is, the club is divided. somethings gotta give.... and i think we're a better chance of replacing 1 chairman then we are of replacing a hundred thousand fans....
