Re: Are you celebrating the Jubilee ?
Wife was watching yesterday and asked me how the DOE and Charles and the princes got all those medals they were wearing...I had no answer.

Noticed that myself, Twiggs, and - for me - just shows how out of touch with reality all of them are. I actually thought it was quite tasteless given how those killed and injured actually defending their country are treatedTwiggster wrote:Wife was watching yesterday and asked me how the DOE and Charles and the princes got all those medals they were wearing...I had no answer.

Suppose, when the queen finally dies, we were to have a vote on the choice between King Charles III and the continuation of the hereditary monarchy or President William Windsor.
The outcome might be rather close I reckon.

Almost word for word what I said to the wife about that. Is why this forum has the Help For Heroes thread pinned at the top of the page. Didn't Harry (or William?) get taken out of the Falklands War, cos he was "too important"?Gino 1959 wrote: Noticed that myself, Twiggs, and - for me - just shows how out of touch with reality all of them are. BTW - this concert outside buck house is AWFUL. Robbie was ok, but who are all these Z-list wannabees that came after??
Brilliant stage tho, I must admit.

Jessie was so out of tune it was horrible. Cur Cliff is awful as I'm watching. And he is someone I was a huge fan of, as a lad. Bet Tom Jones blows him away!becchio bear wrote:

If you thought Robbie was good and Jessie J *I'm not her biggest fan) was out of tune you need your ears testing.Twiggster wrote:

Re: Are you celebrating the Jubilee ?
Erm neither of them were born, William was born a week after the war finished. Prince Andrew served in the Falklands as a Royal Navy helicopter pilot. The government asked he be reassigned to a desk job but the Queen insisted he be allowed to sail with the ship. He saw active service and rescued survivors from the Atlantic Conveyor after it was hit.Twiggster wrote:Didn't Harry (or William?) get taken out of the Falklands War, cos he was "too important"?![]()
In 2007 a tour of duty by Prince Harry to Iraq was cancelled as the media found out. However later that year he served a tour in Afghanistan.

prince Andrew was a helicopter pilot during the war. A job was to be a decoy for the excocets being fired at the fleet. Not the only one to do it but certainly a job worth a lot of praise, just like the rest.Twiggster wrote:

If your talking about Harry in Afghanistan then the right decision was to pull him out. After the gutter press decided to print the story of him being there then it put every patrol in even greater harm. still, don't let the feelings of hatred for them get in the way of the truth.

Re: Are you celebrating the Jubilee ?
Prince Philip had 12 year career in the Royl Navy serving for most of the duration of the second world war. He saw a lot of action during that time. Even after his marriage he wished to carry on his naval career.Twiggster wrote:Wife was watching yesterday and asked me how the DOE and Charles and the princes got all those medals they were wearing...I had no answer.
Prince Charles did have training in the RAF and Royal Navy and did serve on several ships. I agree though that his medals are a bit of a joke.
