Well, I was dead chuffed with that result AND how we played. Specially 1st ½.
Ross on fire for his birthday and even Luci looking as though he was actually interested. Cracking goal too!
It seemed (on telly), that we burned out a little after starting 2nd ½ at 100MPH and let Wolves back in the game. However, in true Warnock style, he parked the bus and but for one or two little lapses (White's slip), we looked more solid in defence than we have since I can't remember when.
Bringing on Diouf was a master stroke - he was showing Wolves up on his own, was a very good playmaker and the lad knows how to get a free kick!

Thought Ross, Becchio and Varney should have scored easy goals but the shots were deflected or missed the target.
Joint MOTM for me : The Beast and you Sam Byram.
Sam was thrown in the deep end yet swam like Phelps! His mum will have to remove Jarvis from Sams shorts pocket before washing them! Rodo was simply awesome

3 points and a clean sheet and a solid performance - more of the same please! 8-)

Snoddy who? Howson who? :roflmao:

Kenny - 8 great assist
Byram - 8 another fired up display against a decent winger
Pearce - 8 solid as a rock
Peltier - 7 steady captain's performance
White - 5 poor
Green - 7 lost our balance when he was subbed
Norris - 7 industrious midfielder
Austin - 8 just what we required in the engine room
Varney - 7 worked hard, should have scored
Becchio - 7 comes alive in in the six yard box, great header
McCormack - 7 lively & our new & better dead ball specialist

Diouf - 8 quality player, kept hold of the ball well, nice touches

KEEPER - who said we didn't need him as we had Lonergan

FULL-BACKS - What a find Sam is :-D

MIDFIELD - Austin is a beast, him & Norris are the best partnership for a long while. Still think there are goals in Varney

UPFRONT - Becchio is fit again, Ross is fired up & Diouf has plenty of quality

Btw not one anti-Bates chant. The MOT atmosphere has returned :-D

At long last we seem to have a spine throughout the team

Good first half & should have put Wolves to bed tbh, 2nd half we sat back but showed that we can defend now as we under the cosh for long periods. Last season we would have folded & probably have lost the game. Another CLEAN SHEET :-D

Sorry to miss you Bakerboy :( enjoyed some banter before the game with the Anorak, Cardiff White & dear old Revie. Headed my way down to front of the kop to say hello to Drs Dad & his Mrs. Just before half-time made my way to see Riot (WR) & was also greeted with kiss from Pat :-D

See you next time Bakerboy hopefully

maybe, long way to go and no way to compare as this defence already looks way more accomplished than anything SG could put out.

A good solid start with players looking like they were giving their all. Hopefully even more to come once they really gel.

I think the key to our season is that we don't get too many injuries at the same time. We have a bit of cover and flexibility but no great depth yet.

Having a solid defensive midfielder like Austin takes so much pressure of the defence as it forces the opposition out wide and into areas where you can control the situation.

Hopefully the start of things to come.

Wolves can't shoot. Everyone hold your breath. 2nd half lufc midfield was over run. Colin must have looked on in the second half and asked himself if anyone was irreplaceable. Apart from Paddy the answer would be no one. Motm 8. What a relief to have a killa in the side at long last. Phlegm was the most skilful player on the pitch. Unfortunately he is pedestrian and let Wolves back into the game. We lack a bit of quality (snod) a bit of pace (nowt new there) and a bit of drive\class (Howson). A terrific result. Best of all the anti Bates spoilers stayed at home and ER was once again a great place to watch football.

'kin 'el

Welcome back.

Saw you having a chat with '64 at half time.

CAn#t really argue with much you said, thought we still lacked bothan inch or two of height and a yard or two of pace - BUT - ther wa a team on the pitch for the first time in a long time and, yes, I thought Diouf took his chance well - to start making amends...
