Unfortunately he is pedestrian and let Wolves back into the game. We lack a bit of quality (snod) a bit of pace (nowt new there) and a bit of drive\class (Howson). A terrific result. Best of all the anti Bates spoilers stayed at home and ER was once again a great place to watch football.
Some terrible shooting from Wolves, that said we could have had a couple more. Varneys touch for his chance was poor, just knocked the ball with his other foot.

I'm nicking 64's template i watched nearly all the game so It warrants ratings. :P
I had a curled stomach watching todays game - i have no idea where the nerves came from. :duno:

Kenny - 7 - Quality.

Byram - 7 - His razor hasn't got a spec of rust on it.
The lad is quick, reads the game well, and he can hit a shot make no mistake.
Total acid test against Jarvis who can use both feet and would walk into a top 10 premierside no doubt - and for me He passed with flying colours - Ok Jarvis had the better of him more than a few times, But the young lad give as good as he got. It's like we have signed a wonder kid at right back. In a couple of years when he packs a bit of weight on this lad is going to be playing for England. (If that's his nationality) SAM BYRAM IS FU5KING BRILLIANT!!!!

Pearce - 7 - Loved his tackles, someone got an inch he went "have it!" Think we will see some last ditch tackles no doubt. Total quality for us and this division. Thanks pompy.

Peltier - 7 - Again like the shrews game I dont notice him :duno: We won, it's a good sign.

White - 6 - A bog standard six for me. If anything shit3 was going to happen today it would of gone through white.
His pace went missing - everytime he got forward he did this "Run - stop, pass back or to the side" fecking slipping letting that clown in. Hope he improves the next game. Think his pace is his only saving grace ATM. The only player in existence to not know his own preferred natural position. Come on you goof! you can do better! didnt doubt his work rate though.

Green - 8 - my MOTM because he is total bad ass. he got levelled a few times and just got back up. The only thing wolves players did not do to him was hit him with iron bars. My doubted player becomes my preferred player. Green for prime minister and go to hell if you think otherwise.

Norris - 6 - Him and pelts i seem to have this blind spot for.

Austin - 8 - I like him.

Varney - 7 - Really like Varney as a player wins headers, exellent runs, tricky fu5ker! We will see at leasty 10 goals from him this season, was unlucky not to get a shot on target or even score, but a heavy touch spoiled the party) Think he might have a lot of these near misses this season.

Becchio - 7 - fu5king unbelievable. Sweet ass diving header at the far post. I bet ER was launched when he nutted that one in!

McCormack - 7 - Loved his confidence when shooting on his weaker foot from 600 yards.
Lovely cross on his weaker foot to set up the goal.

Diouf - 6 - Needs match fitness, rarely loses the ball, dont see him been a game winner though ATM.
Worked hard. Sucks in tackles for free kicks.

Tactics: If green had stayed on we may welll have got that second goal.
Hoof ball was the order of the day which I can understand seeing as the players are still gelling.
but Jesus christ, the left and right backs got the ball with time to pass to the midfield and they hoofed it- without looking - no idea if they were instructed to just blindly launch it like this. We hoofed that many times when we could of passed to the middys who may of picked out better options. That s**t has to stop next game. We put our selfs under preassure that could of waited to give us a breather. IF we get some pace in and I mean real pace, we are going to be a team that will scare the s**t out of whoever we play in this division. Jesus bates stump up one last signing!

Really wanted a winning start and got that, but I was stressed today just watching.
We handled wolves really well, they have big powerful players up front, and their middies can keep hold of the ball (something I hope we learn to do and soon, we cant go 100mph like that all the time) Jarvis was a pain.

MOT.
WE''RE LEEDS UNITED, WE''LL NEVER BE DEFEATED!

Paul Green was warnobs best signing.
If you disagree please send me a PM so we can get in to a fight.

Agree Ems

The whole balance of the team was lost once Green was sidelined, a grafter who helped young Sam defensively down the flank !

Welcome back.

Saw you having a chat with '64 at half time.

CAn#t really argue with much you said, thought we still lacked bothan inch or two of height and a yard or two of pace - BUT - ther wa a team on the pitch for the first time in a long time and, yes, I thought Diouf took his chance well - to start making amends...
64 in pink with matching rose coloured glasses. He's 64 white he sees what he likes. Agree entirely about team\effort but 2nd half there wasn't much to see from the kop as the game was played out infront of our goal and lufc resorted, with the exception of phlegm, to Warnocks usual anti football. Was that you wearing a mellotron  Scores on the doors looking far too high for me. We need to do much better if we are to replicate Larry's success and challenge for a play off place.

There was me thinking I was negative. I was quite happy today after we beat my local team. Back down to earth with a bump. Just watching the recording of the game, and I actually thought we looked pretty good considering we had 7 new players in. Wolves down from the Premiership and we beat them without conceding. Couldnt see us doing that last season.

Thought we defended well throughout the whole of the game, especially in the 2nd half when we were under some pressure. We'd have caved in last season & probably lost the game. Clean sheet WR :-D

It was stressful Twiggs, dont get me wrong but as usual, I say what I see and todays performance was far better than any of last seasons games.

A realist I think. I love lufc but it doesn't cloud my judgement. The over markers will be the first to turn if things don't go to plan. Today we saw a wokmanlike peformance which is fine but we were struggling to stay in the game at times 2nd half (imo). A great win but not a greatperformance. Hoof is not the way. Any win is a good win. Colin is still showing a big minus on my balance sheet for the mess he made last year and for bad mouthing larry but he gets credit for today's result.
