Re: Becchio wants to leave [Merged]
What is his agent on about "Leeds haven't done enough to keep him" i mean he hasn't got 6 months left on his contract , he still has 18 months to go . He's agent is trying to twist his head and cash in on his goalscoring form .
So he says he wants us to sign him till 2017 at his age 29 no thanks not that long .
Yeah no doubt his having a fantastic season but he can also be very inconsistent on a bad year .
Leeds already supposedley offered him $20,000 per week and a 3 and a half year deal , that's a fair deal in my books.
At the same time if he can get alot more money at another club at a higher level wouldn't hold it against him.

If he club keep him through the window and tell him to go bollox, then I will be happy. To sign Sam and tell clubs to F off with bids for Becchio, we are definitely going the right way.
Lets wait for he window to close.

You mean, wait until something actually happens before making comments on something rather than endlessly derive conspiracy theories based on numerous unproven rumours??? The game plan today suited the game (Mr Warnock should try this more often...) There will be other games where Becchio, or a player of Becchio's type, will be the best option to start or needed off the bench.
I have been, and remain a big fan of Luciano but the game is what it is and players move on for financial or professional reasons.
However, the one and only factor that determines whether or not Becchio moves this week should be the availability of an adequate replacement. We need all options up front.
There must be no way we should end the transfer window 3-4 million quid up in the bank, yet with less options up front.

Then we shouldn't sell. He has 18 months on his contract. We don't have to sell. He (allegedly) wants to stay anyway but he (his agent) is holding out for more money. See how spending another six months on five grand a week less than he has already been offered works out for him.faaip wrote:

Leeds actually hold all the cards here. According to reports Becchio is on 15 grand a week for the next 18 months. He has been offered 20 grand a week for 42 months to stay. If he doesn't sign he faces losing out on that extra 5 grand a week for 18 months and leaving on a Bosman, by which time he is 31 and less likely to earn as good a contract elsewhere.
There's no reason we should sell him unless we have a replacement lined up and get an acceptable offer. My feeling is that if those conditions are not met by the end of the transfer window Becchio will be signing the contract as currently offered.

So when would our deadline run out?....Tuesday? It'd be a perfect world where we could say too late but I have a feeling that if a deal gets hammered out a couple of hours before the window slams shut it'll go through....then what typically happens is a rushed attempt to bring in one of our replacement targets or resignation out that fact we've run out of time and we'll look to the loan window when it opens.

This to me seems the likeliest reason. All coming across very similar to the Adam Clayton situation where he was forced out so NW could buy Paddy Kenny.Emsley wrote:he just wants some money to bring in crappy players.

I don't think there should be a deadline. Unless we have a replacement signed (as Warnock has said we don't need to sell Becchio to buy) then we shouldn't sell as it leaves us unacceptably thin up front.
Distrust of Bates has caused the poor attendances and consequent loss of income we see now. GFH have to show that they have a different approach. They simply cannot allow the club to have a weaker squad at the end of this transfer window than we started it with. It would be PR and financial suicide.
