according to SPortsDirect it's a done deal. Scott Wootton will sign with us tomorrow.

http://www.sportsdirectnews.com/premier ... -leeds.php

"Exclusive
Manchester United are letting centre half Scott Wootton join Leeds United in a cheap deal.
Wootton will finalise the move to Elland Road on Tuesday after being left out of the reserve side as he ends his stay at Old Trafford.
Boss David Moyes will allow Wootton to go because he has so many defenders at a similar stage and prefers Michael Keane.
Cash-conscious Leeds will only pay a nominal fee up front, with cash to change hands after appearances and if he is sold on.
Wootton has been with United for some time and his high point was an appearance in the League Cup semi against Chelsea last season."

Can't recall seeing the lad play but this could be a very shrewd signing, Wootton is young & will be technically decent on the ball & a player with good habits as he has been well schooled at Britain's top club. Once again McDermott is building for the future :-D

Vaguely recall him playing for ManU v Chelsea in the League cup last year and if memory serves me right he was a bit out he's depth that night in a high scoring game but then again he wouldn't be facing same calibre of player in the championship.

Hopefully he does wel but to be honest, I think we are much more in need of a winger than a centre half !!

You can play without wingers. It might be flat, boring and scrappy...but you can win.

You can't play without defenders. At the minute we have two centre backs. A centreback at Lees/Pearces level or better was required. I think Wooton fits that requirement.

we do need another center back more than wingers, the parring of Lees/Pearce is doing ok now but they cannot fulfill a full season 50+ games they will burn out we need a replacement to keep the players fresh and on thier toes.

also if there was an injury or suspension which is likely for defenders you only need 5 yellow cards for a 1 match ban then we would be in trouble
Forever and ever we shall follow are team, because we're Leeds United we rule supreme!

We have defenders already who to be fair have done a decent enough job so far - bench strength may not be good hence why BMD is seeking a new addition.

Big difference is we dont, by BMD's own admission have ANY wingers at the club, not one.......the scrappy wins will soon become few and far between when you come up against the better opposition where pace and trickery will be needed to unlock superior defences.

Ryan Hall? (Yes, well ..............)
Aidy White (Yes, well .............)

The problem is not that we don't have wingers, or in White's case someone who can play on the wing, it's that we are wasting money on the wages of players who just don't cut it.

If you noticed the article I posted about Salah Noohruddin's comments last week, he said this:
"We need a centre-back and a right winger," the chairman says. "Brian is looking and we are supporting him. He is very honest and understanding and showed with Reading that not only does he have a good transfer record, but also has great talent for nourishing youth players – this is really where I want him to focus."

Well with the imminent arrival of Wooton, it looks like we have our CB, now for the elusive, quick wingman.

yes i agree with Gurj and hopefully Ross stays , with a new centre half and maybe the so far elusive wide player just could be the icing.
We are going to be i would say a lot harder to beat and our defence i reckon is gelling.

I'll be happy if this goes through. Still very young and will have had some good role models to understudy. Are defence hasn't looked too bad so far, and this should help give BMD some more options.

Still waiting for you to clarify this Riot...
