Palace chairman coming out today saying that he reckons diving (to get a penalty) should be a red card offence. If a foul to stop a goal scoring opportunity is a red, then a dive to gain one is equally bad.

Although I can see his reasoning, I can't see it ever coming in as too many players get wrongly given yellows/get away with it now anyway.

That dive is particularly bad though, you can see him move his leg towards the defender to ensure contact - played like a pro. I don't think there was much in the penalty that was given either tbh, the defender got a good portion of the ball in my eyes.

Too true. These things happen so quickly it's very hard for officials to spot these at the time.

I agree with that, problem is though the damage is already done. Giving lets say Young a 3 match ban wont hurt scum one bit. They already got the 3 points

They were talking about video reviews of penalty decisions during games as an alternative, which could work. I suppose it depends how well Hawkeye goes this season, but if it got rid of cheating (you could always give a straight red after watching a video?) then I wouldn't mind the slight delay...

Unfortunately it is almost impossible to be absolutely certain about this scourge of diving.
The referee s word is of course final and that`s it.
When it seems a " Blatant Dive " depending on who you support can and is an influence one way or another.
But when it does seem like the above it very usually is. [WHO`d want to be a referee anyone!] i thought so .

I thought the dive for the free kick that got them their second goal was far worse than the one Young got a yellow card for. Not that Young wasn't diving. I'm pretty sure the "penalty" that was outside the box was a dive as well.

Anyway, for the free kick the guy has fallen over his own leg, without being forced to. Clumsiness or diving, either way it's not a free kick. Scum wouldn't have scored if not for dodgy reffing decisions.
